Salute to Loretta Lynn

A wonderful tribute to The Coal Miner's Daughter, Loretta Lynn, a living legend. Striving to maintain the pure "early Loretta sound," Tracey K. Houston does a fine rendition of these songs, all of which were originally recorded by Loretta in the 1960s.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Pure Classic Country at its best!!

Tracey K. Houston recorded this Loretta Lynn tribute album due to the many requests of fans throughout the years who have attended her Loretta tribute show "Hey Loretta, The Girl From Butcher Holler."

"I thought it was only natural to release the album on February 1, 2007, the 47th Anniversary of Loretta signing her first record contract on February 1, 1960. Since there were just too many favorites of mine to choose from, I decided this first Loretta tribute album would contain songs from her early career, thus this album contains songs RECORDED by Loretta only during the 1960s. Wanting to pay homage to Loretta's original "early sound", I tried to keep my music as close to the original recording as possible."

Below is the write-up about the Loretta Lynn tribute show. Please contact us if you'd be interested in bringing the show to your area.

Hey Loretta, The Girl From Butcher Holler™

Starring

Tracey K. Houston

Tracey K. Houston, an internationally acclaimed, award-winning traditional country music artist, presents in song and story, "Hey Loretta, The Girl From Butcher Holler", a loving portrayal of the Coal Miner's Daughter, Miss Loretta Lynn.

Loretta Webb was born in 1935, the second of eight kids to a coal miner, in the mountains of Butcher Holler, Kentucky, and married at the age of 13 to Oliver Vanetta "Mooney" Lynn. She had her fourth child by the time she was 18 and became a grandmother at 29. She embarked upon her professional music career in 1959, and on February 1, 1960 she signed her first record contract with Zero Records out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, releasing one single, ‘Honky Tonk Girl’. The song reached the Top 15 on the country charts, and a year later, due to the success of that hit single and thanks to the efforts of The Wilburn Brothers, Decca Records picked up her recording contract. Through personal and professional triumphs and tragedies during the past four decades, Loretta has captured the hearts of millions worldwide, and has become one of the most recognized and successful country music artists ever.

"Hey Loretta" is a one-woman show written, arranged and produced by Tracey K., a noted Loretta historian. "Hey Loretta" traces the highlights of Loretta’s lengthy career, and the roots and development of Loretta and her music, which evolves from biographical songs to tunes about strong-willed, independent and feisty women.

"Hey Loretta" is a 90-minute 2-part production. The first 45-minute set covers the 1960s (the early years), and after an intermission, the second 45-minute set covers the 1970s to the present (the superstardom years). Appearing on stage with Tracey K. is a male musician/vocalist, who performs the vocals of Loretta’s duet partners, Ernest Tubb and Conway Twitty.

"Hey Loretta" is a heartwarming, loving portrayal of the Coal Miner's Daughter which will leave the audience enlightened and entertained.

A beautiful tribute to Loretta!
We haven't seen many tribute albums to Loretta Lynn in the last few years. Thanks to Tracey K. Houston for this wonderful long overdue salute to The Coal Miner's Daughter.
The songs Loretta recorded in the 60s are the main focus in this album and Tracey is doing an excellent job. Tracey goes back and recreate the wonderful traditional sound of the 60s with good help from multi-instrumentalist Jamie Haage.
If you like traditional country music this is the album you should not be without.
In the liner notes Tracey is saying: "Maybe I'll do a second volume of songs from the 1970s!"
Tracey, I think you should!!!

I was thrilled to add this tribute CD to my collection of Loretta Lynn memorabilia. Tracy did an outstanding job covering the early hit songs of the "Queen Of Country Music." A Loretta Lynn tribute CD has been long over due and hopefully the major labels & superstars will soon do one for Loretta.
THANK YOU Tracy for a great job!

This is far and away Tracey's best CD to date!
Tracey has captured the very soul of Loretta Lynn in her presentation of Loretta's recordings from the 50's & 60's.
I can't help but believe that Loretta will feel flattered and moved by the sincerity of which Tracey's presents the songs on this special CD.
Good work kiddo!
