ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Singer-pianist Tracey Lyons is especially gifted with a superb vocal instrument and has the impeccable taste to know how to use it. Her voice is intimate, warm, relaxed, engaging and, most of all, a sheer joy to listen to. She makes it all sound so effortless and satisfying. Every musical decision here has been made with considerable class and intelligence. Ms. Lyons and her bandmates are knowing professionals who perform with supreme elegance and crispness.

On a CD replete with both subtle and obvious pleasures, perhaps the single most striking accomplishment is Ms. Lyons’ rendition of “If I Only Had A Brain” (yes, from the Wizard of Oz). Arranged by Harry Connick, Jr., this song is remarkable in its emotional richness and depth.

Based in Greenwich CT, Ms. Lyons has, for years, been providing those who live in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey with the pleasure of her voice, piano playing, and personality in live gatherings. Now, with the release of this stunning debut, the rest of the world can enjoy her obvious talent.

Wonderful! Easy on the ear, provocative instrumentals, clear, earthy vocals make this a must for any jazz lover. I recently played this as background music for a cocktail party, it worked a treat, everyone was at ease and in the mood to party! I'm looking forward to listening over and over but this time without the party guests. A real gem. Highly recommended.

Wowie Kazowie!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first heard this CD. I was astonished ... blown away ... head over heels. And those are understatements. I'm a big fan of Diana Krall, and Tracey Lyons is absolutely in that league. She has a mesmerizing voice that transported me right to the Algonquin, where I sat sipping a dry martini and fell madly in love. I don't know if a CD can be worn out by repeated playing, but it may happen to this one. Hearing is believing. So listen up: I strongly urge everyone with two ears to buy this CD immediately so they can hear why I'm in love.

I LOVE this CD!!! I'm sure anyone who listens to the album will comment on "If I Only Had a Brain". It has never been rendered so movingly. But other joys abound. Fun is to be had. "It Don't Mean a Thing" and "Jazz n' Samba" will do it. I'm glad her fabulous voice has such fabulous musicians, a pleasure to sense how they work together. This is a great piece of work!

Sweet!
I love smooth jazz vocals, so this CD is perfect for me. The musicians and arrangements complement her voice beautifully. I like the song selection. You don't find "Sunday Kind of Love" and "If I Only Had a Brain" on other cd's. It makes "Sweet Happy Life" a great addition to my jazz vocalist collection.
