Album Notes
Tribal Hippie Underground Zone (thugz for short) is a psychedelic jam band from rural northern California. The group carries on in the tradition of the great San Francisco area groups of the 60's such as the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Country Joe & the Fish. The band mixes their original songs with classics from the likes of Donovan, Traffic, the Beatles and a whole lot of Bob Dylan.
The group is made up of drums, bass, two guitarists(one doubles on trumpet) keyboard and ukulele. 4 of the members sing and also harmonize well adding to a varied and interesting listening experience.
The Thugz have been together since about 2001 and average 100 shows each year. Although the group plays mainly in the Russian River Valley area of Sonoma county they are known all over northern California. For the past 4 years the band has been featured at Wavy Gravy's Camp Winnarainbow Adult Camp and has also performed for the San Francisco Giant's Annual "Grateful Dead Night" at A.T, & T. Park in San Francisco.
The band has a huge repertoire which combined with their impressive improvisational skills make each show a bit different and unique. Happy, dancing folks of all ages come out in droves to each show. Good vibes and fun are guaranteed.
