Album Notes
Trifilio Tango Trio, a new ensemble in the tango scene, has played across North and South America since their formation in early 2016. Bandoneon, cello, and guitar, TTT performs new and original tango music written for today's audiences. Led by Emmanuel Trifilio and Devree Lewis, their music has appeared in concert, film, and milongas as well as two music videos.

Inspired by masters such as Piazzolla, Salgan, and Gardel, TTT's repertoire is reminiscent of traditional 20th century tango and is considered melodic and expressive.

Recorded in Argentina, Estaciones is their second album, featuring 4 "dance" tangos and 4 concert tangos. "Estaciones," or "seasons," have long been an archetype in formal music; Vivaldi's and Piazzolla's Four Seasons immediately come to mind. TTT explores the "Four Little Seasons of D.C." with tango music written in the capital of U.S., from the perspective of Argentinian composer Emmanuel Trifilio.

Beginning with Fall, I. October describes the melancholic beauty of the first month that Trifilio spent in Washington, D.C. and away from his home country. II. Mar Adentro, or "the sea inside," reflects the introspective nature of winter. Springtime brings a specific flower to the trees of D.C., and the waltz III. Cherry Blossom is dedicated to them. IV. Verano walks briskly through downtown D.C. before a grassy rest and long build to the finish.

The first four tracks on the album begin with Milongacha, a fast opening resulting from the mix of "milonga" and "cha-cha-cha." Artista Del Trapecio, based on Kafka's short story about a trapeze artist, is a waltz describing the life of any artist who lives their art. Se Quemaron las Tostadas, tango, features the incredible guitarists of the Ceibal Trio, who arranged and recorded this song with TTT. La Holy Milonga is dedicated to Pope St. Francis, Argentinian and tango fan.

"Estaciones" can also mean "train stations," and TTT considers this their second season as well as their next stop on the train line.
