Stunningly beautiful
Mostly I am disapprove of updated carols and hymns, which can show off arranging skill rather than contributing to the songs. These modern arrangements of songs for Advent/Christmas/Epiphany are so stunningly beautiful, and so well performed, that I abandon all disapproval. I heard the Coventry Carol track on With Heart & Voice. This medieval horror carol, describing the murder of the innocents, is often updated to sound more contemporarily bland. The update on this album is more disturbing than the original. Instantly when the program was done, I hunted up the whole album and downloaded. All the tracks are to die for.
