ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Trio BraamDeJoodeVatcher Quartet
Featuring:
Paul Dunmall (bagpipes, soprano sax)
Mats Gustafsson (baritone sax)
Taylor Ho Bynum (cornet, trumpbone)
François Houle (clarinet)
Michael Moore (clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax)
Peter van Bergen (tenor, soprano sax)
All tracks recorded live in concert.

For their 20th anniversary program in 2009 Trio BraamDeJoodeVatcher invited different guest musicians for their concerts, thus forming a Quartet (or Quintet, as in Vancouver).
The compositions as written by Michiel Braam are collected in the 'Q-book'. They are in no way fixed in form or mood but serve merely as starting points for improvisations. Guests were invited to pick a few pieces, rehearse for a couple of hours and then play. Or, as Paul Dunmall chose to do, ignore the Q-book and just improvise.

Fantastic Avant-Garde Jazz Music
The highly talented group, Trio BraamDeJoodeVatcher and their latest CD, “Quartet,” takes the listeners on a passage of fantastic Avant-Garde Jazz music. This album consists of live recordings from concerts with a few guest musicians and the result is originality at its best. The musical talents on this album are powerful as each artist performs with inventive creativity. The track, “Q02” is free flowing and brilliant as these musicians take on improvising with spontaneous attitude. The vibrant and upbeat song, “Q23 (feat. Michael Moore,) offers a solid walking bass line, sweet piano riffs, and melodic clarinet. The piano performs with a fury of fire on, “Q01 (feat. Peter van Bergen) as the sax kicks in with a sultry stance. If you’re a fan of Avant-Garde Jazz music, then don’t miss a chance to hear the delectable songs on the excellent CD, “Quartet.”
