ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“I don’t know how fast we’re going,
I don’t know how far we’ve gone.
There doesn’t seem a sign of stopping,
So there’s no point in slowing down.”

- “Drive to the Sun”

Sometimes the past and the future find interesting ways of merging. Two Saskatchewan boys, vocalist/guitarist Jason Bergeron and drummer Nathan Wall, having grown up playing together, joined with Montreal-born guitarist Brent Bisaillion to form Tripmeter. Putting together the old with the new, the group’s sound is a fusion of up-tempo alternative rock with infectious pop melodies and lyrics indicative of the wrestling and questioning that life often forces upon us.

“A tripmeter,” says Bergeron, “is the name for the part of a car’s odometer that records the distance of a trip.” Drummer Nathan Wall adds, “It’s an image that we were attracted to because it combined the idea of taking stock of where you’ve been with where you are, and where you’re moving to.”

And they are a group on the move: on September 28, the group’s first full length album, “Wide World Crashing” was released. The album includes the stand-out track, “My Addiction,” recently featured on the Western Canadian Music Awards Moose Jaw Sampler CD, as well as nine other original songs. “We just finished the record,” says Wall, “and some of these songs have barely been played live yet. We’re really excited to share these songs with people. We can’t wait to see what happens next.”
