ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Welcome to the music of TROLL. I wrote performed and recorded all of the music you hear on the double TROLL CD. I am a songwriter but the magic of my music is in my production. I "play my equipment" the way I play my instruments.
My style began on an unstable foundation of progressive rock and metal which eventually crumbled and remerged into my own breed of textural psychedelic moods that are combined with rock, folk, and world influences. It is my intention to use this style to capture scenes of nature, phases of my emotions, and stories of people and my experiences.
I play a vartiety of instruments (mandolin, flutes pump organ, wulitzer, keys etc.) but guitar is my primary instrument. What you hear is authentic analog sounds. I don't do virtual, plug in, cyber, cube whatever. I play real instruments, collect real field sounds and record in real time on analog equipment. I play and create. I do not sit in cubicle editing on a computer.
The priority in my production is to emerse the listener in the experience by building imagery, not only through lyrics and instrumentation but through sound design.
When I begin a song, I often ask myself, "how can I gather as many sonic mediums as possible to help me convey what I'm feeling?" I want a vibe, a specific cluster of emotions. There is a story or a feeling in my brain. My production and instrumentation is scored carefully to fit the images in my brain as if they are a movie with paticular scenes that need individual sonic and musical tailoring. In many ways my music is produced like a film, oppossed to a CD. I work hard collecting field sounds and manipulating them into my production. They thicken the imagery as they help to inspire my playing, but above all, they serve as a vehicle to my goal of creating sounds that have never been heard before.
My music isn't car or working music. It requires one to sit down and give the same undivided attention that would be given to a movie. I want you to take a trip and jump into the story.
Many people are not willing to do that because they don't have the attention span or they simply don't want complex sounds and emotions to interfere with their day to day life. I have always liked emotional music that manipulates my moods and routines. So I work towards doing that in my music. This may shorten the spectrum of listeners I have or create criticisms. Many have called my music "personal and inaccesible". This fantastic phrase, I take as a compliment and a dismisal, but it is some what fitting. The music would not be mine if it was not personal and some would call it inaccesible because they cannot relate to the content. I would not expect you to like it if you were not interested in textural music, nature/ earth energy, emotional literacy, archetypal language etc. Yes!!! It is a very select group I apeal to.
So take a listen and enjoy. I encourage you to buy my double cd at this cheap price. The money supports me and cd baby. I also fully support piracy and copying in any form and if my music is included then great. Just remember, piracy will cripple the already dieing regime of big manipulative record labels. Anyone who opposes piracy is usually greedy and connected to a large label, or brainwashed by their propaganda. If you don't agree with me just ask your self "how many good artist appose piracy" and I mean artists that are still making good music. Metalica once made good music and now that they suck and are cranking out Kroq crap, they suddenly oppose piracy. Do you see the patern? Support the artist and the cottage industries and let Karma and natural law bring to record executives what is long over due.
Thank you for your interest in TROLL. and keep doing what ever it is that you do to keep real music alive.
