ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
LORENZO AND EJ - violin & guitar
A MUSICAL BANQUET FROM SANTA FE TO DENVER

A Musical Banquet, From Santa Fe to Denver represents the music of Colorado and New Mexico based on classics from folk traditions. Some of the selected pieces date back to the 1840’s during the trapper period in the Southwest when Colorado and New Mexico were first being settled and other selections are more contemporary. Dr. Trujillo is a descendant of the original explorers of the Southwest United States with his ancestors first entering this area in the 1540’s. Excier “EJ” Rodriguez comes to this music with a fresh and vibrant Caribbean flair and energy. The two artists join forces to create an exciting nouveau rendition of these pieces representing the past to the present with a unique and authentic sound.

Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo is the recipient of the Governor’s Award in the Arts and the Hilos Culturales Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in preserving, teaching and presenting the music and dance of Colorado, New Mexico, Mexico and Spain. He was an Artist-in-Residence under the National Endowment for the Arts and has performed numerous times throughout the Southwest in theatres, on television and radio. He has performed on many recordings of traditional and religious music.

Mr. EJ Rodriguez is a master guitarist and composer who has performed extensively throughout the USA, South America, Central America, and Europe. He was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the USA in 1989. He is a graduate of the Luther College in Music Education and holds a Master’s degree in music performance from the University of Wichita in Kansas. Mr. Rodriguez has recorded two CDs of classical guitar as part of the acclaimed guitar duo Piu Mosso, on the Fermata label.
