Album Notes
Trumpetology is a Los Angeles based jazz ensemble comprised of 5 trumpets and rhythm section. Led by emerging jazz trumpet player, Walter Simonsen.

Trumpetology pays homage to the history of jazz trumpeters. Each chart is based upon a landmark recording that defines the history of American jazz. The arrangements are smart and focused written specifically for this group. They offer a fresh and rare perspective on the way jazz is presented.

The arrangements feature the 5 trumpets performing harmonized passages of legendary trumpet solos, such as, Kenny Dorham, Prince Albert, Chet Baker, Autumn Leaves, Miles Davis, So What & Four & Milestones, Dizzy Gillespie, Groovin' High, Lee Morgan, Sidewinder, and more.

Trumpetology is more than an anthology of famous solos. The arrangements are carefully crafted to feature each trumpeter's individual voice as well as the rhythm section.

Trumpetology's jazz is as accessible as it is recognizable, but progressive in its unconventional ensemble configuration and modern arrangements.

Trumpetology seeks to continue the art of the jazz tradition with an original and exciting configuration.

All performers with this ensemble are active Los Angeles based musicians.
