Album Notes
Good Deale Bluegrass founder and multi-instrumentalist Tim Finch teams up with the sweet vocals and songwriting styles of Savannah Finch along with their entire band to create exciting and unique music that melds the roots of Bluegrass with Americana, exemplifying the "Alt-grass movement".

“Bluegrass is experiencing a growth spurt. What was not that long ago a very rigid musical form is now moving beyond its borders. One of the bands helping to usher in new ways of hearing traditional sounds is Tim & Savannah Finch and the Eastman String band. Their self-titled album packs lots of familiar textures into their playing. Savannah Finch’s vocals are mountain stream clear, her notes rising up through the air, cutting a path with powerful pipes that know their range and potential. Tim Finch’s time with the Good Deale Bluegrass Band with Mike Auldridge helped further his natural abilities and talents. He brings the results to this release. Bluegrass lies down with Americana, the offspring songs lending credence to the mixing of bloodlines. Whether the rhythms demand stepping (“Heartful of Trouble”, “Your Love Is Like Moonshine”) or quiet reverie (“Love Me When the Rains Come”, “Leaves Have Flown”), the band owns their territory. Like all leaders in sound, Savannah Finch makes good use of what has come before; blending time worn tones into a modern take on tradition.”
- Danny McCloskey, The Alternate Root Magazine (Apr 07, 2011)

“This latest compact disc collection from Tim (mandolin, banjo, pedal steel guitar, and vocals), and Savannah Finch (guitar, bass and vocals) can best be described as new age Americana music. All ten selections are originals composed by the Finches including “Lovely Lovely Ladies,” “Your Love Is Like Moonshine,” “Heart Full Of Trouble” and the bouncy instrumental “T.A.F.A. Rag.” Of special note is the presence of guest pickers like Mike Auldridge (resonator and pedal steel guitars), Rickie Simpkins and Patrick McAvinue (fiddles). While the music of Tim and Savannah Finch clearly extends beyond the boundaries of bluegrass music, it should find favor with anyone anxious to explore new territories.”
- Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine (May 01, 2011)

“I love the kind of surprises you get reviewing CDs. This album is one of them. I received it in a stack of other albums with no promo sheet and precious little in the way of liner notes. The cover looks like someone tore a snapshot out of a family album and reveals only a poorly lit photo of a pleasant looking couple against a blank wall. Not much to go on. So I begin to play the album and read what there is to read, and things start to pop out. Mike Auldridge is on this album! Mike Auldridge was (is) one of the hottest Dobro players in the country – when Jerry Douglas was still a teenager! Tim Finch is a founding member of The Good Deale Bluegrass Band, a wonderful blending of “Alt-grass” and Americana music. And by now the CD is on the second or third cut and what I’m hearing is clean and clear as a spring breeze and expertly recorded. I feel as though I stopped at an ordinary looking house and once inside realized I was in a palace! ..”
