About TUNA PASE

Music Lover, Musician, Improviser, Composer, Songwriter, Ethnomusicologist, Lecturer.

Electronics, Voice, Flute.

Tuna Pase is a music lover based in Istanbul. Her musical journey began when she heard the timbre of the flute in the orchestra pit for the first time. Her areas of interest are electro-acoustic composition, improvisation, sound design, sound art, song writing and ethnomusicology. She plays electronics, flute, percussive objects and sings. Her music is inspired from sleeping, dreams, food, nature, poetry, photography, street art, bicycles and Istanbul. She performs her electro-acoustic compositions and songs in an improvised manner, where she re-composes them live, using the elements that build those compositions or from scratch. Her main point of performance and composition is based on improvisation, which she sees her way of making music and collaborating with other musicians.

She has earned her BA in musicology and MA in ethnomusicology and continued her PhD in Sound Engineering and Design program at Istanbul Technical University Center for Advanced Studies in Music. She teaches world music, music history, electronic music, audio culture and improvisation in various universities in Istanbul. She also loves inspiring children through workshops about sound and music.

She performs in concerts and festivals, and participates in projects and workshops in Europe (France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland), the United States, Israel and Turkey.

Her debut solo album is entitled “Discotheque Sounds From The Cemetery” which include electro-acoustic compositions between the dates 2006-2010 is out on Bandcamp. She also has other albums out with her band partners such as Barkın Engin “Hazy Stars”, Illi Adato “Oscillation 00-12-00” out on Bandcamp and Sarp Keskiner “Rain Harvest” out on Müzik Hayvanı.

This album is the follow up for her first "Electro-acoustic Pop" album "Under the Tree".
