Album Notes
"...a softly ominous example of what can still be done with dusty instruments from an anonymous attic, a human voice, and the ability to weave all into a locally expressive sound that avoids easy categorization" Splendid E-Zine

"...evocative and sonically challenging" Noise Magazine

"Good for late night candlelit dreaming" Collectedsounds.com

"The experimental aspect of such songs produces a range of original musical moments" 1340mag.com

"...theatrical, powerful" DJ Mor of KZSU

Turkish Queen is an experimental duo out of Boston, MA. They formed in the sultry summer of 2002, through a mutual love of sound, texture, and technical wizardry. Their cinematic melodies wrap around your ears like a slow-creeping vine, invoking an eerie sea of sound. Evocative female vocals reveal themselves like a lifeline on a palm touched by sepia-stained fingers, portraying intriguing characters and the human condition.

The duo consists of---
Ajda the Turkish Queen : vox, keyboards, banjo, classical guitar, sampler, flute, bell, mandolin
SJ Roi : bass, guitar, loops, noises, percussion

In October 2003, Turkish Queen self-released their first recording, a 4-song CD EP - cusp. The discs are of a hand-numbered, limited edition of 500.

Turkish Queen plays music that is of an instrumental sensibility. It's what you want from those Christmas lights hanging on your ceiling.
