Album Notes
"Seattle-based Tuvim is a rarity in modern folk-pop: a young, moody singer-songwriter truly in touch with the roots of American music. Soul, blues and pop all filter through her husky, knowing voice."
-Dan Gewertz, The Boston Herald

"Soulful and introspective, Tuvim has a rich, commanding voice."
-Gene Stout, Seattle P.I.

"With a knowing perspective reminiscent of Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell and Aimee Mann, her songs practically seethe with sensuality."
-The Performing Songwriter Magazine, Top 12 DIY (Dec. '07)

"Kym Tuvim's music is so intuitive and deeply felt, so eloquent in its lyrics and so lovely in its musicianship, you just want to strip to the skin and dive in."
- Susan Werner, Award Winning Independent Songwriter

"The songs on Tuvim's new record Nothing, Sweet Nothing are intimate, haunting and go straight to the heart."
- Meg Hutchinson, Songwriter/Red House Recording Artist

"Kym Tuvim's Nothing Sweet nothing short of a perfectly written, produced and performed work of art."
- Laney Goodman, host of Women in Music

"Kym Tuvim continues the blues streak with her latest...
But even more essential is Tuvim’s rich and hearty voice, one that is custom-made for singing her blue-tinged compositions. Among the more irresistible originals are the swaying “Pendulum,” the airy “In My Head,” the deep “Flood” and the piano and vocal of “Reservoir.” Tuvim’s lovely reinvention of “The More I See You” will make you want to listen to it more."
- Gregg Shapiro - Chicago Free Press

Singer-Songwriter Kym Tuvim is the daughter of a pianist and granddaughter of a big band leader, so it's safe to say that music was like breathing in Tuvim’s childhood home. Growing up in central, suburban California, she was playing piano, guitar and writing songs at an early age. When it came time to go to college, she chose Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she studied Jazz piano and composition. She's been based in the Northwest ever since. Her last two albums were critically praised by fans and critics alike, including Acoustic Guitar and The Performing Songwriter Magazines. With a huge voice, stellar guitar chops and a penchant for telling stories with emotional truth, Tuvim has built a strong following in listening rooms, living rooms & festivals across the country. Of Tuvim's live show, said, "Seattle singer-songwriter Kym Tuvim can sing. ...A remarkable performer, she didn't bounce all over the place or boogie behind her guitar, and she didn't need to. Her songs were thoughtful, provocative, and relatable. Her voice was solid, strong, and soaking with soul." Tuvim has shared the stage with Susan Werner, Girlyman & Kris Delmhorst, among others, and in 2005, she was voted back for the 2006 'Most Wanted Tour' by the audience at The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, one of the largest folk festivals in the U.S., held every summer in the Berkshires in New York State.

With her third release, Nothing Sweet Nothing, Tuvim genre-bends through roots, folk-pop, jazz, and swampy blues, offering up unguarded observations on the quiet in between places where love fails and where it is the saving grace. Of the record, Tuvim says, "Lyrically, the songs were the most truthful and bare that I had written. Musically, they were the most diverse." Written over 3 years, the songs trace a musical path Tuvim had begun years before when she first discovered her love of jazz and samba while studying music in college. Combined with her singer-songwriter background, and add to it a new found interest in slide guitar, Tuvim brings her smoky, soulful voice to these tunes, tying them together in a lush and lyrical album.

it's wonderful!
Kym Tuvim's latest effort is wonderful success. Her voice, her guitar playing, her songwriting, her love all shine brightly through the mix, and she has assembled the perfect cast to join her... this is a must-buy CD, it's the next best thing to seeing Kym perform live.

I Can't Stop Listening to This CD!
The music and words captured in this CD are amazing. Each song is sung with such much emotion, depth and feelings that you are drawn into the lyrics as if the words were your own. Kym's voice is so earthy and grounded - a refreshing change from all the high pitched 'hit every possible note in one song' tunes we hear too often today. I listen to this CD almost daily and never tire of it. Just amazing!

Nothing Sweet Nothing, is SOMETHING SWEET SOMETHING!
My copy of this CD is already worn out, so I am glad I added it to my iTunes Library so I can make another copy. I have a 5 year old son who asks to hear "Pendulum" over and over again. The record is so sweet and brilliant and sits so well with whatever mood you are in. Kym's vocals are so rich and telling and the songs are well crafted gems, one after another. I cannot find a weak track, not like I tried. Just got to the end of the record only to hit repeat. Kym, you did it AGAIN!

the voice that blows you away.
kym tuvim has one of those incredibly rare voices that leaves me breathless, like i just got kicked in the stomach and i can't wait to regain my composure so she'll do it to me again. tears well up in my eyes. immediately, embarrassingly, inappropriately. kym does this to me, quite effortlessly i might add. and the people who can do that to this poor, tired, jaded soul - i can count them on the fingers of one hand.
