Twisted Pair's winding roots stretch far back to 1877, when Thomas Edison fatefully committed a scratchy rendition of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" to a cylindrical vessel. Years would pass, and the geometry and science of the recorded medium would bear witness to a slew of mutations. But no deviation in the medium's design could possibly eclipse the mutatative minds that rest within the message itself. And few could prepare for what was about to be unleashed.

In 1998, Mary's lifeless body turned up in a dimly lit alley just outside Anytown, USA. She was discovered face down in a vomitous goo of salsa, SlimJims and cherry flavoured cough syrup, mawled beyond all recognition. An Edison cylindar jutted from the small of her back. Her little lamb had grown fangs. Large, venemous, slathering fangs. It's fleece of snow, now a slate on which two South Jersey musicians would paint their own twisted world view...

Deconstruction and Reconstruction. Those are the two musical directions that are interwoven into the singular vision that is Twisted Pair. Musically, Twisted Pair has reinvented the wheel-a cruel, yet beautiful wheel that spins in a multitude of directions. At its center lays a hub of psycho-sexual energy, vulcanized in humour, rhythm and a veritable potpourri of 20th century pop culture. Get out of the way, because this wheel is spinning towards you...

Twisted Pair are:
CrackHead - Guitar, Bass, Synth, Percussion, Blood Sweat and Tears

SandBox - (Lead + Backing Vocals) Bass, Guitar, Synth, Percussion, Tortured Cats

All lyrics written by SandBox, with the exception of "Daytime Television" (co-written by David Asher)

Twisted Pair / Old and the New...It's Inside You / Self-Released (CD)
Juxtaposing charges of metallic anger with a deep, bass-driven, gurgling rhythm, Twisted Pair bear more than a passing resemblance to the mainstream end of industrial rock. However, it would be a grave injustice to write them off as Marilyn Manson wanna-bes. "Menace On the Blue" and "Under" emerge, as if from nowhere, bearing more resemblance to the ambient experimentation of Brian Eno than the aggressive energy exuded by the disc's remaining tracks. While the rest of the album lacks this eclecticism, the screaming baby on "Cry For Me Baby" and the demonic growls of "Machine" add a foreboding and often amusing undertone to what would otherwise be fairly standard metal fare. And of course, techie types can snicker about the double meaning of the group's name. -- jw

This is an Awesome,Rockin,Kick Ass cd!
YOU HAVE TO GET THIS CD....It ROCKS. If you love Metallica you'll love this cd. The Hard Rock, with it's cool edgey sound effects of loops & voice changer. Makes me want to ROCK OUT whenever I listen to it.

earBuzz Review: Two wires, turned like garbage bag ties, again and again, until the wires form one electrically conductive piece of metal - delivering power and/or music. . . or, a couple of insane jokers who's sense of humor and intellect is just this side of Bellevue.. . or, entwined socks?. . Definitions vary, but the focused idea here is on the band "Twisted Pair" and their latest CD, "Old and the New. . " - an industrial hard rock 'not for delicate ears' effort that combines acid rhythm tracks with demonic and effected lower register vocals. Keyboards move from left to right along with strategically distorted patches. The mood is a drone - dark and brooding, pumping and grooving, and so the CD starts with the opening track, "Piece of Me". It's an infectious start to an ambitious and, at times, brilliant record. The compositions stretch into every corner from its industrial base - there's movement into jazz, African beats, metal, euro-pop, . .but only tastes - the core of Twisted Pair's sound is clearly demented and their Drarkonian collestivle attempts at the sound that made the assembly line famous is near perfection. "Daytime Television", is a screaming evil cover story that works with its panning analog effects and grinding beat. "Feed My Libido" is mp3'd here as a clip as well - an upper beat sexual trip that has Manson touches and attitude in all the right places. A tv speaker sample of porno completes the journey. Twisted Pair's opinion of sport car inadequate middle-age men is apparent in "Penis in a Glass Jar" - they sing of no erections, comparisons with other guys, new cars that are their penis in a glass jar. Not sure if it's intentional, but there's even a salute Floyd's Animals instrumental melody 'uh uh, charade you are'. . which is perfect - because the target audience for this middle-age mayhem would be the set that idolized Floyd in the mid-70's. A cool record, intelligent and insightful - with enough cynicism to light a fire under complacent ears and enough groove to bust the dark dance floor.
