Album Notes
This album features a collection of Duane's songs written over a long musical career. They invoke emotions as diverse as young love, searching, death; events as diverse as whaling in Moby Dick, Irish navvies building the London Underground, a disasterous holiday in Spain, being "pressed" into the British Navy and places as diverse as the lakes of Cumberland, Euston Station and memories of Yeat's country in Sligo.

Twisty Willow's music is Celtic in origin and played in a Kiwi (New Zealand) context. We gig mostly around Auckland with the emphasis on private parties and weddings, involving called ceilidh dancing as well as songs.

For this album the line-up was:
Duane Thompson (guitar, lead vocals)
Barb Bycroft (fiddle, backing vocals)
Wes Bycroft (bodhran, backing vocals)

Duane was singer/guitarist with Twisty Willow for 10 years before he had to return to the UK to be with family both older and younger. His songs have in common a rythmn and feel that are unmistakably Celtic as well as drawing on other genres. We enjoyed putting this album together and rounded it out with a couple of lively traditional tune sets.

Duane arranged for London musicians from his past to add instrumentation on some tracks: Tam Brannan (bass), Jay Brannan (drums), Paddy Marchant (concertina) and Mike Patton (mandolin). So thanks to their collaboration and the range of songs, the album really had an autobiographical feel.
