ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As far as accolades go, Calgary born, Montana/Saskatchewan based singer/songwriter Tyler Gilbert has been nothing short of an indie sensation since releasing his 2008 debut EP Vos. He’s done national tours all over his native country, from Vancouver and Edmonton to Toronto and Montreal; performed at countless major festivals, including the Canadian Country Music Award Festival and Canadian Western Agribition; done national tours of the U.S from Los Angeles to Chicago and Nashville to Kansas; and performed live on Global TV and CTV while his music hit the playlists of top stations all across Canada.

Tyler's music is a mix of Rock, Country and Folk all intertwined with technical guitar licks and soaring clear cutting smooth vocals. With song genre diversity of Chris Cornell, vocals of City & Colour, and dark undertones like Damien Jurado. His music pleases the ears of Rock to Country listeners. The Montana Kid features some brand new themes never yet seen in his works, along with his trademark dark philosophical themes he introduces the aspect of love, none more present than in his song "Hanging Roses" as it describes a man in a relationship with a woman who does some bizarre things from time to time, and even though the man does not understand why she does these things he finds beauty in them. Touching on his dark undertone themes he reaches for stories such as "Man On the Porch", which tells the story of greed and revenge for a brother. "Stains" reverts back to his common theme of one man pondering the imponderables. His lightning fast solos are ever present all throughout the album, and clearly displayed in "Don't Fix It" as he digs down into his harder rock roots.

The Montana Kid album features top notch performers such as Mike Young(Devin Townsend Band), Aaron Edgar, Glenn Sutter, Val Halla and returning as his role of producer Justin Bender (Third Ion, Into Eternity) to help deliver Tyler's many sides and genre bending style of acoustic guitars to squealing shredding solos to angelic vocals singing cinematic lyrics.
