ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Don't Be Scared is the latest in the fruitful musical meeting of the minds between the Tyrants in Therapy and Thomas Bainas, the gifted writer/producer from the Greek island of Crete.

Having heard an earlier version of Don't Be Scared on the Tyrants' High Class Trash cd, Bainas (who has worked with TIT on previous Italo remixes of Perfect Love and Once Upon A Time) requested the vocal tracks and created a stirring new arrangement of this inspiring song.

Also lending their talents are Duncan Faure ( Bay City Rollers and Kalru) on vocals, and the late Duane Jarvis (fDivinyls) on mandolin.

They join Abbe Kanter and Michael J to make glistening stirring music that will nourish the heart and soul of people around the world.

Enjoy!

Mystic Dancing
This sinuous song with some mystic overtones to it is another catchy dance number from the Tyrants in Therapy. The maxi-single format gives you seven different mixes of the track, which has a great 80s new wave vibe to it somewhere between Trans X and Erasure. The infectious rhythms will soon have you moving around your room in arcane directions possibly while wearing a patterned shawl or a flowing cloak. This is also a tune where you can really pull apart the lyrics and make them mean whatever resonates for you at the time. As always, Abbe Abbe and the Tyrant Michael complement each other well vocally, bringing different tones and attitudes to the lyric. The variety of mixes is fun and gives you a lot of listening options. I especially like the mix on track 6. Check it out!

Don't Be Scared

Don't Be Scared to Buy this Song!
Love this single by the Tyrants in Therapy. I was expecting one of their usual witty, intelligent, humorous songs which I love, and instead found it to be a poignant, moving ode to love. I have to admit that despite the addictive beat that had me dancing in my chair, I was a bit choked up. Hope no one saw! Really, highest ratings. The Tyrants may be great at poking fun, but it is always from a loving space.

One to tightly embrace
The Tyrants momentarily turn our attention away from
their characteristic witty playfulness this time around with their latest single "Don't Be Scared."

Instead, they aim straight to the heart expressing themes of protective and caring love.

The production style pays direct tribute to pure, timeless Italo Disco. It uses the long-familiar
gallop-bassline but is much more relaxed here in tempo.

Vocal duties are pleasingly split using a unique mirroring/response style. This interplay
fuels and elevates the intensity of the song's abundant passion.

Lyrics such as "I'll hold you tight all night long..." surface throughout and create a heady
atmosphere of romantic glow and luster.

Found among a selection of mixes a ballad version appears, aptly titled The Lullaby Mix.
It is is framed by a striking piano sequence like the others, although its focus clearly centers on its vocal showcase.
The result is divinely gorgeous.

"Don't Be Scared" is definitely one to tightly embrace.

Everybody's favourite Tyrants strike again
The Tyrants in Therapy have returned with a polished maxi single, Don’t Be Scared. As always, there is an air of mystery with a Tyrants release, because nobody can ever be sure which genre this promiscuous pair or performers will embrace.

This time, AbbeAbbe, Michael J and their Greek DJ/producer cohort, Thomas Bainas, have created a dreamy dance track. But it’s not your typical three-minutes-and-we’re-done pop song. As dance tracks go, Don’t Be Scared can be considered a sweeping epic. It’s got a ‘big’ sound – haunting vocals, hypnotic beat, melodic piano and sweet-sounding synths – which drags the listener along for more than six minutes.

But even with a single, the Tyrants can’t resist the urge for a bit of variety. The Don’t Be Scared single includes eight different renditions of the song, from the long-form club mix to the concise acapella version.
