ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"The Send Off" includes some of the best Denver area jazz musicians in addition to trumpet virtuoso, Brad Goode. The record is comprised of all original tunes composed and arranged by Tyson Ailshie. The cover art and graphic design was done by brother, Tray Ailshie. "The Send Off" was recorded at Mile High Music recording studio in Arvada, CO and was mixed and mastered by engineer, Scott Griess.

This is an album dedicated to my dad, Dale Leon Ailshie. He always encouraged me to pursue music and was an enormous fan of jazz. He, himself, was a trumpet player so I was inspired to write a blues for him, "DLA Blues" which was recorded as a trumpet/bass duo. My dad never got a chance to hear it as he passed away March 14, 2010 from Multiple Myeloma.

Breath of Fresh Air
Tyson Ailshie's innovative bass playing on the Send Off is a breath of fresh air. Rather than taking a backseat, as is common for traditional jazz bassists, Ailshie instead colors every aspect of this recording. His compositions are thoughtful and his solos are both melodic and complex. His arrangements and textures allow for an intimacy with the listener, uncommon in many jazz recordings. Highly recommended!
