Album Notes
Tyson Weems recorded this album for The 3D Health Alliance, a project of 3D Health Inc, a Portland Maine-based 501c3 non-profit he founded. Each song promotes a component of 3D Health (personal, community, and environmental). They reinforce concepts in presentations he makes to school groups and others about ways to build healthier communities. Different tracks target different age groups. For instance, “A Garden in 3D” tells the story of growing food for the first time and appears in K through 4th grade presentations. “Our Watch” discusses environmental challenges and taking responsibility and is designed to inspire adolescents and up.

As he did in his debut album “Born Again Weird,” Tyson alternates styles, including folk, rap, rock, country, and house. This makes for a fun listening experience as well as challenging and dynamic performances. A range of instrumentation accompanies his vocals. Several tracks also feature alto and fellow Portlander Christina Sterling.

Maine students in grades K-12, their teachers, and others have been raving about live performances. Examples include “you rock,” “best guest speaker ever,” and “when is your mix tape dropping?” The answer to the latter is now.

Tyson has spent his life developing skills for this project. Along with honing his performing, composing, arranging, and mixing, he’s a graduate of Bowdoin College (BA in sociology and environmental studies) and Montana State University (MS in health and human development). He also helped found and currently coaches at CrossFit Beacon in Portland.
