ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ulrikes Dream is an anarchist metalpunkband from Leuven, Belgium. Originating from the local squatscene, the band has been playing heavy and political tunes since 1998 and has a great live reputation.
Their sound is tight and influenced by both punk and metal bands. Lyrics are about social topics like racism, work, squatting, human rights and animal rights.

History

Ulrikes dream was born in the dark cellars of youth club Clockwork (RIP) in Leuven (Belgium) in 1997. The band’s influences were Anarchy, direct action, crust, grind, metal, hardcore and punk. So you will enjoy Ulrikes Dream if you like bands like early Sepultura, DRI, Massgrav, Accion Mutante, Code13...

In 1998 Ulrikes Dream released their first Demo on a medium then known as cassette, they started squatting, changing Line-up regularly, and put out two more releases: a 7” “If it Leads It Bleeds” (16 grinding tracks!) and a 4-way split LP/CD “Hitters and Runners”, a benefit for ALF-activists with Repression OD, Intestinal Disease and The End of Ernie.
In 2006 the band's line-up changed drastically . Several people left the band with other plans and they now play a. o. with befriended bands Intestinal Disease (grindpunk), The League of Mental Men (powerviolence), Cop on Fire (dub), and The Usual Suspects (anarcho-skadubpunk). They released one last track with the previous line-up on “Squattus Ex Machina”, a compilation cd with 20 other Belgian bands who played in the legendary squat Villa Skwattus Dei in Leuven. But Ulrikes Dream kept on going, with a fresh line-up and a raging sound.

In 2011, after 13 years (and a demo, a 7” , a split LP and many compilations) Ulrikes Dream have released their first Full CD. “Van 9 tot 5” is a soundtrack that befits revolutions and riots. It's anarchist punk in a metal coating with a feminine touch. The record received great reviews.

After all these years still spreads words of anarchy and freedom but now in a more tasty mix of anarchist punk in a metal package, spiced up with reggae, pop, garlic and hot peppers. Energetic, angry, loud and tight.

Current line-up:

Han: vocals + guitar
Erik: bass
Jochen: drums
