Album Notes
Sweet Revenge by uMan ERA is a new single release that takes the bands playing and music production to a new level in 2018! The new song, arrangement and lyrics, by Joe Longo, also on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, includes performances by Tom Koop Sr. on drums, Tom Sieg on bass, and Craig McMurray on lead guitar. Contributions to the mix are also credited to Phil Bickhart on rhythm guitar and Mick Dragons on bass from sessions in 2017. This song marks the 4th year that the band has recorded their music with SI Studios in Old Forge, PA.

uMan ERA original music tends to explore a wide range of human emotions, Sweet Revenge being no exception, dealing with the desire to get revenge out of anger, and how that can become an all consuming obsessive thought. But, as we contemplate our anger and a pay back, we also know the all too familiar warnings about seeking revenge, and what the grievous cost of violent retribution can truly amount to. “Some may say you will dig two graves, When vengeance rules the day! Some may say to forgive is divine, That all wounds will heal with time. I tell you now that I disagree, It’s not my fault this has to come to be! You, my friend, have crossed a line, oh Sweet Revenge, should just be mine!”

The song rocks heavy and comes to an abrupt break that we call the Snake Pit, appropriately named for the effects used and its heavy tribal sound. But, more so, as it represents what happens in our minds as we consider how we got to the point of being so angry as to seek revenge in some way, the feelings of betrayal, grief over a lost friendship, and the desire to do something to get back at another person. “Why, oh why, Must it be this way? Why, oh why, You have brought me to my knees? Why, oh why, Has this come to be? Why, oh why, Have you brought this out in me?”

And, while these volatile emotions rage within, we find ourselves at a fork in the road, with a choice to make, as we are disturbed to our primal core to take vengeful action or not, or to let it pass and to allow the universe to mete out justice in its own way, over time. “Some may say you will dig two graves, Sweet Revenge, surely we both will pay. Some may say, It’s always on our minds, oh Sweet Revenge, becomes bitter wine. My Sweet Revenge will truly be, as time goes by, then we both shall see. To watch you live with your fear and hate, And to save myself, before it’s too late!”

We hope you will enjoy this new song by uMan ERA, as it rocks like no other we have ever produced! It is an emotionally charged work of rock music that challenged our band to perform and record at new heights. While we all did our best to produce Sweet Revenge, from 2017 to 2018, special thanks goes out to Craig McMurray, for returning to work with uMan ERA and lay down some awesome lead guitar shreds! Craig recorded lead guitar tracks with us for uMan ERA CD2, One Blue Sky in 2015.
