Album Notes
Here's Why You're Going to Enjoy This CD !

Great Singers & Great Songs - 1,023 performances were recorded to get the best 14 singers and the original songs that appear on this CD! All artists were Recorded Live during the annual UMO Open Mic in Greenwich Village.

Super High Quality Digital Recordings - The technical quality of our "Live" Master Recordings exceeds the capability of the commercial CD. Most instruments and vocals were fed directly from a high-end mixer to our custom digital interface. These are not edited studio recordings, though they sound so good you may think so.

How We Chose The Best 14

We recorded every performance (unless an artist requested no recording) during the seven months of the UMO Open Mic. We then pre-screened the recorded performances to eliminate cover songs and songs with performance and technical problems. From these "clean song performances" we chose "one best song" from each artist. (If an artist had multiple performances of a song, the "best version" was selected.) Out of those, the "best 14 songs" were chosen and put on this CD for your enjoyment.

Thanks For Your Support

I hope you enjoy UMO's Best Singer / Songwriters of 2003 as much as I do, and thanks for helping to support Independent Artists, the UMO Music web site, and UMO Events through your purchase of this CD.
Sincerely, Ernest "Joe" Budnick,
President, UMO Music

arlan feiles is truly amazing!
impossibly lonely by Arlan Feiles is the stand-out track on this cd (and no, i'm not a friend - i've never heard him before).

the other songs are rather generic, as far as folky singer/songrwiter guitar sets are concerned.

good cd!
great cause!!
buy it!!!

Ladies Society

Go see it live- you will be amazed!
The CD is great-My co-Ladies Society President and I gave it a listen and we had to go see the fabulous musicians ourselves. Seeing the Sour Grapes live and in person was definitely the highlight of the evening Larry and Ellen are fantastic and their act is one of a kind- my advice- check them out!

Michael DiSalvo has a great unique sound
I love to listen to this CD but especially Michael DiSalvo"s song Im Gone is truly a great song. Its very deep and emotional and his unique voice adds to the depth. His sound is soothing and inspirational at the same time. I wish he would collaberate all his songs onto one cd for all of us to enjoy! Great job Michael.

Extremely good CD. Looking forward to the next one.
My favorite track is Steve Chizmadia's The Waltz Mamou. Someone please offer this guy a recording contract. Beautiful melody, romantic lyrics, could listen to him all day. Breck Alan's One More Day is fun, original and quirky. Sounds a bit like it was inspired by Adam Sandler. I also think that Chris Van Cott's Show Me, Sour Grapes' We'll Try Everything, Addison's Stay Awhile and Ellsworth's Up Above the World are very good. Can't wait for the next UMO CD.

Great selection of songs especially "One More Day"
This is a very unique CD. I especially loved "One More Day" by Breck Alan. But truly all of these singer / songwriters tracks are excellent.

(BTW, I think that the reviewer "Carlos" does a disservice to the other great singer/songwriters when he calls the other tracks generic guitar /folk tracks. Just because Arlan played a piano instead of a guitar doesn't make his "songwriting" any more unique than the other artists. In fact I would say that the most "unique" track is indeed the Breck Alan song which weaves a "kind of" rap into a song played on acoustic guitar.)

In any case I'm glad that Carlos ended his review by calling attention to the fact that this is a great CD.

Another Great CD From UMO Music !
UMO Music did it again! I bought the first "Best of" CD (2003) last year. It was a mix of fantastic Rock, Blues and Classic R&B styles but with all new songs. This CD is also fantastic (2004). It has a mix of Country, Rock & Soulful tunes. It's a different style then the first but once again there are all first-rate artists including 3 from last years CD doing new songs. When I come to NYC I'm going to be sure to look up the UMO Music Open Mic where these are recorded. BTW, once again kudos to the engineer, recording quality is excellent!

Joe Budnick and this CD are some of the best things that ever happened to singer
The UMO open mic is just incredible and I recommend it highly to aspiring singersongwriters and people who just want to sit on a nice Sunday afternoon and have a good drink or a coffee and listen to some great musicians (some not so great but that's expected at any open mic obviously). This CD is a result of something beautiful and tremendous and there are some truly wonderful and strong artists on this CD. Michael Disalvo III is a firecracker- "I'm Gone" is one of his open mic hits but he has many great songs- you can get a glimpse at And the music of Jeff Jacobson is fantastic. This CD is really something worth supporting.

Michael Disalvo's song "I'm Gone" was AMAZING!!!
The whole cd was great and everyone sounded awesome, but, Michael Disalvo's song, I'm Gone was amazing, he should make a CD of all his stuff!
