Album Notes
Formed in the Summer of 1999 by twenty-something year-old friends, all originally from seaside towns in Massachusetts, Uncle Shaker has a collective mission in mind: to create great home-based original Americana music, have fun and raise resources and awareness for organizations making a difference in this world.

The band has taken advantage of the latest home studio technology and a multitude of MP3 internet music sharing sites to produce and share their original songs and sounds with many world-wide listeners while gaining accolades and awards along the way.

"Uncle Shaker is an Americana band able to rock the electric as easily as they can break a lady's heart," writes music critic Mary Hamilton in the Somerville News.

Recognized for their "unique, and original" instrumentation, vocals, and harmonies, Uncle Shaker consists of Jeff Foss on acoustic guitar, vocals, slide whistle; Vincent McCarthy on saxophone, clarinet, percussion (shakers, of course) and harmonica; Barry Oates on acoustic guitar, vocals, bass, percussion, and Jeff Timperi on trumpet.

A percentage of proceeds from the CD will benefit HAWC, an organization that raises awareness and takes action to end men's abuse against woman and their children.

Other organizations that have benefited from Uncle Shaker include: The Salvation Army World Trade Center Disaster Relief Fund, Give Us Your Poor, The Foundation Fighting Blindness and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. John McGah from Give Us Your Poor attests, "Through their music and sense of community, Uncle Shaker proves we can all 'band together' to end epidemic homelessness in this country. The band is a true partner in our efforts, and rocks it at the same time!"
