ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With a smoky voice reminiscent of John Mayer and Sting, Mike's songs mirror the same musical diversity he demonstrates on guitar. His style combines the bluesy passion of Stevie Ray Vaughn, emotion of David Gilmour and high energy of early Van Halen.

Mike's musical journey began at the age of 12 when he began taking guitar lessons at a local music store. He continued playing guitar with bands throughout high school and college, while teaching a course in guitar theory. After completing an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, Mike moved to New York City to pursue his dream of music. He lived in Greenwich Village and enjoyed a bohemian lifestyle, playing in bands and working as a copy editor at RCA Records. All the while, Mike couldn't ignore his other dream of becoming a physician.

Over the next 8 years Mike balanced medical school and residency with his pursuit of music. During this time, he recorded two full length CD's. The first being a solo effort that he wrote, recorded and produced himself; the second CD was released by his original band Solstice. Solstice gave Mike the opportunity to gig at many of the legendary New York City clubs including: The Bitter End, CBGB's, Lion's Den, Kenny's Castaways, the C-Note and The Elbow Room. After graduating from residency with a specialty degree in Psychiatry, he left Manhattan and relocated to Columbus to be closer to family.

New to the Columbus area, Mike has teamed up with some great musicians to promote his latest CD 'No Compromise.' This is a songwriter's album with 10 vocal-driven songs and closes with one guitar instrumental, 'Golden Dreams.' The band consists of Mike on vocals & guitar, bassist Jeff King and drummer Jason Schurtz. The Mike Unger Band has had over 75 shows in 2003 and 2004. Undeniable musical talent, authority and powerful originals set this band apart. Mike's goal is to become an exciting compliment to YOUR musical repertoire.
