ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Following up from his 2009 release Monochrome Adventures on the sadly now defunct Jester Records label, Upland is back with a new EP. Where his previous outing focused on a marriage of sorts between musique concrete and IDM, Unlanded explores the possible permutations that follow from fusing drum & bass with the dark IDM aesthetic that Upland is known for.

Review highlights from earlier releases:

"Music like this requires a watchmaker’s attention to detail, capturing, taming and framing an infinity of digital fragments, pinning each into its allotted space on the sequencer’s remorseless timeline. Perhaps it’s because Ruud is so focused on the minutiae of his music that the bigger picture creeps up unnoticed — shadowy, inchoate emotions that loom, ghostlike, between and beyond the meticulous precision of the beats."
- The Wire (www.thewire.co.uk/)

"Following a trend currently pushing the boundaries of electronic music beyond recognisable musical forms, Ruud retains the emotional impact of his music by preventing his compositions from veering into meaningless abstraction."
- themilkfactory (www.themilkfactory.co.uk/st/)
