Album Notes
Urlicht is a musical collaboration between Adrie Völkers and Melaina Mulder
which has started In the end of 2010.
For both, Urlicht is carrying a home for their musical inspiration and emotions.
The voice and lyrics of Melaina and the musical direction of Adrie's first original compositions inspired both to create a full lenght album.
The album, 'The Given', is the result of fusion of ideas and the musicality of both. The initial collaboration with Jeroen Vis (2010-2013) has resulted in a contribution to this album, and for that we are really grateful.

Musicians who participated with us
Jeroen Vis - keys in all songs except for 'The Given'.
Jeroen is composer of the songs 'Gone' and 'Fleeting Nature'.
Detmar Leertouwer - cello, violins and piano in 'The Given'
Einar Ihle - violins for 'the Bleak Land', 'the Weathering', 'the Tide is Calling'
Mickeal Schuurman - guitars for 'the Weathering' and 'Circle the Cracks'

Lyrics, melodies and atmospheres are deep and heavy, containing dark thoughts and heavy emotions. Urlicht is roughly a kind of mix between ambient and classical music. The music has a strong cinematic atmosphere and is hard to place in a certain musical category. In 2014 we can speak of a real ‘Urlicht-sound’ or call it identity.
