Album Notes
The album “Portrait in Bass” was recorded in the spring/summer of 2014 in Valjevo, Serbia and it represents the product of the long-lasting idea of the bassist Uros Spasojevic to find and bring forth his inner music voice through original compositions.

One of the basic ideas in the project is a different concept of understanding a bass guitar, which gives an unconventional role, a different light to the instrument, as the leading melodic and solo instrument with the elements of polyphonic playing and improvisational logic as the most characteristic feature.

The album comprises 9 original compositions of the bassist Uros Spasojevic and they represent a sort of fusion of his musical experience and influence. Each composition is tightly connected with a certain symbol or impression of the author, which is explained in its title – “Portrait in Bass”, as a personal one and tightly connected with the author himself.

Compositions were composed and arranged for a trio with the aim to direct the attention to basic music elements, melody and harmony so that the creativity of all performers would be fully expressed.

The following musicians also took part in the project: Vladimir Ruzicic Kebac on drums, who is at the same the co-producer of the album and recording and mixing engineer; Boris Novakovic, Dusan Jankovic, Lazar Avramovic and Bojan Marjanovic on keyboards.

Really impressive!
Really impressive. I love your bass sound and composition style. Great sound: I love solo bass player but someone is to much "guitar-style" oriented with less groove. Instead, Uros has a lot of groove a lot of musical attitude with respect of the bass role in the composition even maintaining a primary role. This disc is linear, more direct sound, less experimental, maybe more simple then second disc ("god made perfection in the simplicity") but sound very very good for me. If you love solo bass player with solid groove ideas in a professional instrumental context, you have to buy this disc!
