This has to be one of the best cd's I've purchased in years."Angela Flowers" was the first song by Ultra Violet Uforia, that I heard.I was more than impressed! I love the low, deep voice of the lead singer.I can't possibly describe an accurate sound coming from these guys-they mix up a bit of a balmy,Jamaican vibe, with a retro 70's feel, while mixing in the modern accents as well;rock, blues, they have it all-all while playing every instrument imaginable. As mentioned by other reviewers,"Good Night Irene" is definitely a classic.Just a brilliant masterpiece.Like an awesome movie, worthy of an Oscar nod,"Event Horizon" is a fantastic collection of "audio experiences",that you can get lost in,and listen to over and over again.I highly recommend their "Unleashed" cd,found here,as well.Rock on UVU!!

The Dead? Zappa? Talkingheads? Mix'em up and it's uVu!
Event Horizon is a feel-good vehicle for the jamband Ultraviolet Uforia to present a cross-section of subjects for jamming and expressing lyrical ideas, sometimes poetic, sometimes wickedly funny.

I was introduced to uVu through a Garageband listen to Goodnight Irene, a track on Event Horizon. Interestingly this track is not typical of the mostly jamband oriented material on this disc. Goodnight Irene brings out the dark office humor that was popularized with the movie Office Space a few years ago. This song takes a Zappa-like approach to illustrating what the workaholic habit can do to you: "They found her in the bathroom / She took her own life / Her hands still clutching that envelope knife"

If you like the Grateful Dead, Blues Traveler, the Chili Peppers, and are up for a good long instrumental jam between lyrics, click the Order button; you won't be disappointed!

Dead Are Alive And Well!
Out of 90,000 bands at GarageBand.com, this is the first CD I actually purchased, and I bought two, one for my best friend from way back when we saw concerts together- the Dead, the Feat, the Who- yes, we are that old, and it was a wondrous time. And here is a band that produces fresh new songs encompassing somehow a spirit from those times. Imagine the Dead with a power Doors/Deep Purple organ, with vocals at times reminescient of Jim Morrison or Pigpen, but not exactly either. Only 10 songs, and most are 4-6 minutes, but Sunshine is a 10:26 jam, and In the Air is 9:28. Both very uptempo, like from Mars Hotel, imbued with innocent yet obvious double psychedelic entendre. But for social import there's Goodnight, Irene!'s office satire story, bluesier Reach for the Skies with its jackhammer percussion intro dealing with industrial pollution, poignantly poetic Angela Flowers which feels like a circus Doors song (prostitution?), Same Old Thing making the won't get fooled again political point. And finally, on a lighter note, Windsong is a soothing instrumental featuring flute, organ and guitar, while By My Side and After All Is Said and Done are ballads in between Roy Orbison and Waylon. One can feel the spontaneity in these tracks, imagine the live experience. I may not follow them around the country, but if they came to Houston, I'd be there.

Great voices and players, very deep musical creation.
No need to writte more about the hight quality, performance and inspiration of uVu and "Event Horizont". I just like it and if they carry on with such a great standard, uVu deserves to be so popular as the Doors (no exageration).
People, hear this masterpiece !!!

Thank you all uVu
