ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The music of Joseph Warwick Moore (1869 to 1931) was expensively published, and played on domestic pianos all over the world between 1890 and 1930. Little has been recorded till now. He was Musical Director of the Grand Theatre, Southampton, England, and in addition composed at least 160 titles, 16 of which are presented here.

This is the authentic sound of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras and the First World War, superbly recreated by Uwe Roessler. Our thanks to the Bechstein Centre, Dusseldorf, for kindly sponsoring this project. Here is lyrical, sometimes melodramatic music of the pre-jazz age.
