Power Lines to Electric Times

by Valentiger

Jangly guitars, pleasant melodies, and marked drum beats. This Michigan trio pulls off a coup in showing that those things can be combined into a powerful, high-octane formula. Without sacrificing any finesse, the band hits the sweet spot.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
From Midwestern landscapes of Michigan, and the vinyl collection of parents' basements, is Valentiger.

Valentiger leans on the time-tested melodies of bygone days, unearthing and reinventing the sounds of the 60s while drawing heavily from contemporary ideals and experiences. The energy of both old and new provides for albums that are rich in homespun warmth, as well as a live show that moves effortlessly from airy rock and roll, to harmony rich folk-rock, to subdued alt-country.

Valentiger has developed into a completely independent and grass-roots community, staying true to their musicality while releasing three albums, booking eight tours spanning twenty-five states and two provinces, and playing with acts such as Ben Kweller, Steel Train, The Format, The Whigs, Collective Soul, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, and Limbeck.

Valentiger's do-it-yourself approach gives their music a unique and refreshing feeling. Clever song-writing fused with melody and emotion.

Saby Reyes-Kulkarni of "City Newspaper," Rochester, NY says:

Jangly guitars, pleasant melodies, and graceful drum beats. This Michigan trio Valentiger pulls off a coup in showing that those things can be combined into a powerful, high-octane formula. Without sacrificing any finesse, Valentiger hits that sweet spot between vigorous playing and staying light on its feet. The band also makes every single melodic ingredient count. It's as if every utterance of vocals, guitar, piano, etc, were carefully tailored to be as satisfying as possible. Songs by other bands contain hooks; with Valentiger, any sound works as a hook. And every instrument jangles too. Never heard a drumset jangle before? The band's new album "Power Lines to Electric Times" demonstrates how to do it and still rock.
