Album Notes
Valerie Kerr has an extreme passion for developing her ability to perform on the piano as well as to write music. She owns a Steinway Grand Model O Number 212022 for recitals, and a Yamaha U1D Upright for practicing and teaching her students.
She also has qualifications in Hypnotherapy, Meditation and Colour and Sound therapy. She also did study and research on the Body Mind connection.
She is also an author of children’s books.
She has a successful music studio teaching Piano, Singing and Music Theory/Harmony.

Valerie wishes to help people to understand that it is never too late to achieve and fulfil their passion. If they enjoy it and put in the required hours to attract success they will get there no matter how old they are.

As a child she showed musical talent from a young age but due to serious Attention Deficit Disorder her ability to study and develop at anything was a problem. In those days it was not recognised and therefore not treatable.

When asked what she wanted to become as an adult she always said a “Concert Pianist,” but was immediately told that it would be impossible because she didn’t do any work towards becoming one.

It was many years later after she had married and had four children when a friend asked her to teach her son music. She told her she couldn’t read middle C. The friend said ‘but you play’.
As there were no music teachers within a 20 mile radius, she felt a strong desire to teach her friends son.
She realised she would need to give up playing by ear and study.

After purchasing the Trinity College of London workbooks and music books to begin her own study she agreed to teach her friends son.

In Seven years she passed her Teachers licentiate and continued teaching for many years.

She never lost her desire to become a concert pianist. She was under the impression that the hour a day she practiced was enough to get her there, which was and never would be sufficient

Three years ago after going to a meeting with John Demartini (a motivational speaker) who spoke about passion. He mentioned that one only became successful at developing ones passion is through dedication and hard work. After which it becomes easy.

She then began to practice in earnest and learnt to develop the discipline to put in the many hours of practice a day which is required to reach a suitable standard for performance.

As she improved at the piano, different coincidences began to show up in her life creating more playing opportunities. Her yearning to compose music also steadily increased.

She has built a performance repertoire including works of J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Chopin, Debussy. Schumann.
She is presently working on Beethovens Waldstein Sonata op 53 and Chopin’s Grand Polonaise Brilliante with Andante Spianato op 22. She is a late starter, and is well past retirement age but her passion is only just beginning to bring satisfaction to herself and others. She would dearly like to help older people to realise that it is never too late to develop and grow in whatever their passion is. We are here to give to others and if we can do so through our talents, by working at our passion and seeing it through to the point of giving love and enjoyment to others we will have achieved satisfaction in this life time.

She has recently composed and recorded her latest composition “Song Without Words No1.
Included in her recital are her compositions.
“Crepuscular,” “Love Is?” and “Glory of an Evening Prayer.”

She has also completed two songs.
“Power of Love,” sung by Daniella Winer.
“Words of Wisdom,” sung by Mark Cillier.
“Greatest Gift,” sung by Mark Cillier.
“Greatest Gift,” was inspired by the release of Nelson Mandela in 1990
