Album Notes
The Vandelays are a Madison, WI based band that blends traditional styles with modern arrangements and instrumentation. The Vandelays write from the heart and truly put so much of themselves into their songs. Working long hours in the studio over the last year, they put together their first indie release, 'A New Day'. Tracks range from straight country to balls-out hard rock. Synths, Hammond organ, and Rhodes play a key role in their studio work reaching back to the tone qualities of the early '70s we all know and love. Layered guitars combine with solid bass and drums to give this record the perfect foundation for the material. Tight vocal harmonies bring out an old country and bluegrass feel that is consistent throughout the album (even on the heavier material). Karol Niemann contributes her strong vocals on 3 tracks. Singing lead vocals on "Mend", she shows her abilities to belt out a rock song and also create an emotional edge that cuts. These songs were all originally written as bluegrass/old country tunes, but they got turned into some pretty rockin' numbers. Enjoy!

Unique sound. Awesome harmonies. Killer guitar tracks.
This is a high energy CD with great harmonies, punchy bass lines, awesome guitar playing and the classic rock keyboard tones we all love (rhodes and moog!!). I loved #8 'A New DAy' and I can tell the band really poured their heart and talent into this song - new age guitar meets classic rock...and it does rock!!
