Album Notes
Drawn to the surf style through common elements found in music from vintage Rock \'n Roll, to Rock-a-Billy, Lounge, Tiki, Jazz, Flamenco, Hawaiian, and 60\'s Psychadelic, this instrumental surf rock group formed in early 2005. Their desire was to draw on all of the above influences and fuse them together in the surf genre. Their diverse tastes have created an eclectic mix of songs that retain a vintage surf sound.

In our attempt to capture sounds similar to the surf classics of the 60\'s we recorded the majority of the album live and decided to keep modern production techniques to a minimum. Although we all enjoy many different styles of music, we found it refreshing to get away from complexity and were excited to keep it limited to four people and their instruments.

Who knew music had muscle...! But this group has got it bigtime! I especially loved the feeling of "falling down the rabbit hole" once again (White Rabbit). An awesome rendition of a classic.

Surf Reinvented
I don't know that I've heard the original recordings of many of these songs but I would guess these renditions to be as good or better than their progenitors. they sound like they could've been recorded in the sixties except they are so much cleaner sounding. I mean amazingly crystal clear sounding, with really good instrument sounds; well mixed with good strong levels overall. Choice of Paint It Black and Taste Of Honey is near genius and the fact that these songs lend themselves so easily to be transformed into the surf genre is proof of the thoughtful song choices on display. It's as if the band has discovered the hidden surf elements that were in these songs all along unbeknownst to the listener and now we are taken on this surf exhibition/miner's journey, almost a plundering of rock's surf underside. I found Apache a little slow in the overall pacing of the record, not my favorite but I would say a strong outing by one of my favorite bands. I feel your strong suit is really where you reinvent the classics, I think there's more gold in them thar hills or should I say waves? Well done!

Great for Home or Car!
Put this on and let your day or your drive get lifted on the waves of cool. The surf style is presented with a sparkling live-in-the-studio sound that will fit in with your other music, but give you that retro glide at the same time. And these folks can really play. Great job.

A proud debut from a young instrumental Surf band out of the Big Apple, New York City. Yes, among their originals, many of the tunes are crowd-pleasing recognizable covers. However, it\'s easy to pick up on the VBMC unique style. Their choice of repertoire is moderately complex, unusual (e.g. Tired of Waiting, White Rabbit) and makes them adaptable to many LIVE environments and scenes (e.g. Taste of Honey, Music to Watch Girls). This is a welcome addition to my collection.

What a great album !! Especially if you want to bring yourself back in time. As a baby boomer, I can really appreciate some of these old great hits with a new twist, as this band has provided. If you are a younger person and just want to hear some really great instrumentals, you just gotta\' have this album. It will be one of your all time favorites which you will play over and over and over.
