Album Notes
Carl Ventis moved to Bend in 1996 and, until recently, was best known for being part of the local cover band The Reputations and as a guitar and bass instructor at Wall Street Guitar. With the release of Ventis’ debut album, A Day In The Sun, those other two recognitions will mostly likely be taking a backseat to his budding career as the frontman for Ventis, which is comprised of himself, Blaine Bowden, Daryl Henderson and Joe Plass. Many of Ventis’ songs reference faith and God, but this album is by no means a Christian sing-a-long. Ventis stays true to his musical influences, such as the The Beatles, Toto and Bruce Springsteen, and produces an interesting and uplifting rock album that fans will no doubt appreciate. Whether it’s the album’s unbelievably catchy title track, the guitar-driven “Rock and Roll Lady”, the twangy folk rock “Train Song” or the acoustic and soft song “Paper,” we’re sure that any album that starts off with a mention of “Purple Haze” and the phrase “good luck and hard times” is all but guaranteed not to disappoint anyone who enjoys the likes of Bruce Springsteen or John Cougar Mellencamp (before the truck ads started anyway)
Carl Ventis was born at the perfect time to have a Life as
a musician! At the advent of rock and roll. He started to play the guitar at the age of 14 and has never looked back. His influences include The Beatles, James Taylor, Sting, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, Paul Simon, Jude Cole, Toto, And so many more. He started to write his own songs at the age of 17 and in the past 2 year’s has won 2 major songwriting awards. He has also worked with the best as well John “JT” Thomas keyboard player and engineer for Bruce Hornsby, Steve Hornbeak Musical director for Faith Hill, He has also opened for John Denver and the list goes on. Most recently Carl has set out on his own solo career and will be releasing his premier cd “A Day in The Sun” in Mid January of 2008. He dose not just play songs, he tells about his life in Music and how the songs he sings have played a roll. Carl’s Own music is filled with honesty and a sense of who he is and where he came from. This is His premeir CD and it showcases His songwriting and his collaborations with Blaine Bowden.
