ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Janet Grice, Bassoon
Kevin Willois, Flute
Sarah Bednarcik, clarinet
Rogerio Boccato and Ze Mauricio, Percussion

Hudson Views was inspired by beautiful places where I live, blending elements of my favorite genres: jazz, classical and Brazilian music. The choros by Pixinguinha and Corrêa, the Trio by Santoro, Gilberto Gil's song about a train, Expresso 2222, and Estudo Aberto, are from Brazil. The Tango of Argentina influenced Brian Duford's Tres Tangos, Erik Lindgren's Tango Elegy, and of course Piazzolla's Nightclub 1960. The habanera rhythm is at the root of music of the Americas, and is heard in Paquito D'Rivera's eloquent Habanera.
