ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ventriloquus was classically trained as a Spanish and Flamenco guitarist, but that's NOT his style, that's his teacher. Growing up listening to 70's soul on vinyl in his parents bedroom grabbed his heart and never let go. "As soon as I began to write my own music, I got swept away in a mad rush that never brought me back to shore. It was so liberating to mix sounds together, to experiment, to advance the science of music." The beats are always rhythmic, sinking deep into your chest; your heart can't help but beat in sync. Classical training always influences his melodies as well, but the songs are geared towards the artist within pop culture, the emotion within an everyday listener. "I begin every song with a lyric... could be a word, could be the entire chorus. From there, I grab my iPhone and start humming, I work out feel. It doesn't take long for the pieces to come together - I don't write songs overnight, but it's close. The muse grabs me and I bury myself in the moment, for as long as it takes, drawing inspiration for that time period from literally EVERYTHING that comes across my path. It all fits, it's all there, in that moment, for a reason. Then the best part about having your own studio - I recruit the best musicians to help me go where I can't go alone." The result is stunning, music that grips the heart and echoes in the head - you won't hear another genre quite like Ventriloquus, because of his unique upbringing and influences. He's part Jeff Buckley, part John Mayer, part Al Green, part Imagine Dragons. The darker sensibilities within each song will haunt you, the Spanish influences will tear you apart, and before you've hit play a tenth time, his lyrics will have made you question life's purpose.
