Album Notes
Great Reviews Keep On Comin’! Here's what's being said about "Stuck With The Blues":

“Brad Vickers & His Vestapolitans deliver another batch of honest, irresistible blues”
—Tom Hyslop, BLUES REVUE

“Plenty of instrumental sass by way of Vickers’ astute acoustic picking and sax man Jim Davis’ sonic strut…”
—Mark Uricheck, LIVING BLUES

“Few bands can cover more than a half-century of blues styles and give each its own authentic reincarnation. This sets Brad Vickers & His Vestapolitans apart from every other blues band in the land.”
—Roger & Margaret White, BIG CITY BLUES

“After their surprising debut album ‘Le Blues Hot,’ one could only hope for a quick sequel. Now, with ‘Stuck With The Blues,’ that expectation is rewarded. You’ll find it all here: ‘feel good’ music, depth, originality, and respect for the legacy of the blues greats.”
—Marcie Geukens, ROOTSTIME

“They are the real deal blues-early-rock-and-roll torch carriers, vowing to keep American’s Modern Music alive and strong every time they go into the studio. You can always, 100% of the time, count on strong jam interludes, blazing horns, a showcasing of every individual and their instrument, and a consistent, danceable, boogie-woogie, foot-tapping, thigh-slapping cacophony on every track. Thank you Brad Vickers & your Vestapolitans. Keep up the good work!”

“New York based singer/guitarist Brad and his versatile group impressed me with their debut ‘Le Blues Hot’, and now they do it again with their new CD release”
—Norman Darwin, BLUES & RHYTHM

“Vickers and band tackle a diverse set of musical styles on this release, but it all fits together seamlessly. ‘Stuck With The Blues’ is another winner that will be welcome in any blues fan’s collection.”
—Graham Clarke, BLUES BYTES

“Several—make that many—replays were in order here…The disc closes out with an all-out jam called ‘I’m A Love You’. On this one, it’s Brad on top of his game with the guitar.”
—Peter ‘Blewzzman’ Lauro, MARY4MUSIC

“Indeed an impressive album. In a word, ‘Excellent!’”

“Torch-holders of that great American music known as the Blues. A perfect meal cooked up with many spices ranging from city blues, ’50s rock, country, and 1920s boogie-woogie.”
—Joshua Meander, NOMAD’S CHOIR

“Brilliant, wide-ranging, ‘Stuck With The Blues’ is a perfect sequel to the amazing ‘Le Blues Hot’”
—Roberto Rossi, RADIO PNR

"STUCK WITH THE BLUES" - Liner notes:
You could call the second album by Brad Vickers & His Vestapolitans ‘timeless’ because the recording evokes many different musical eras and styles, combining them into something fun, fresh, new—yet still familiar.

Building on the foundation of their well-received debut, Le Blues Hot, this new CD uses a larger band and a broader musical palette. Two of the songs, "Cold Fish" and "Coming And Going" feature a special guest: their friend, guitarist Bobby Radcliff.

Vickers, who has played with a long list of great American blues and roots artists, draws inspiration from these experiences for his own songs—some of which seem to have ‘existed forever.’ The
opening track’s Chicago-styled shuffle, Stuck With the Blues—which takes a turn on ‘round-the-clock’ lyrics, the Mississippi hill country drone, Cold Fish, and the delightful Vestapol Rag—inspired by early Memphis string, jug, and brass bands—are all instant classics.

Vickers’ What About Me? influenced by Chuck Berry’s work in the mid-’60s, when he’d graduated from bobby sox and cars, is a thick slice of Rock ‘n’ Roll. I Want To Tell You Right Now dips into the Gulf for a taste of horn-infused Cajun pop. The music of Coming And Going recalls the flavor of the great Magic Sam, while its lyrics channel Jimmy Reed.

Margey Peters revisits her vagabond character as he rolls into town making a stop at Hobo Jungle. In They Gave Us The Blues Peters steps back in time to pay homage to some of blues’ forefathers—and a mother—imagining them as they began—and, in Tampa Red’s case, ended—their careers.

Speaking of Tampa Red, no Vestapolitans album is complete without nodding to some of Vickers’ idols. here the band offers their lively version of Red’s Betting On You. With lyrics of incredible meter, Jaguar And The Thunderbird is one of Brad’s favorite Chuck Berry songs—and one of the most challenging to sing. It gets the full, high-test Vestapolitan treatment. Deep Elem, a great old-time tune by Leon Chappelear, takes a hand-clappin’, foot-stompin’ trip back to the red-light district of Dallas, while Jelly Roll Morton’s Winding Boy visits yet another area of ill repute, New Orleans’ Storyville. Jimmy Reed is doubly honored with an arrangement of Can’t Stand To See You Go, as well as the album’s closer, a jumped-up version of I’m A Love You.

Brad and the band hope that you enjoy Stuck With The Blues, that they’ll have an opportunity to play for you soon in your part of the world, and that you’ll stay in touch. Take care for now, and please, support live music!

Brad Vickers "Stuck With The Blues" CD is like a time machine. It delivers the listener to a land of genuine blues. None of this overproduced R&B cross over garbage here. Just real honest blues done at its best. Wish there were more cd's like this.
