Album Notes
“ i wanted to do this for a while. record a collection of older songs from my catalog, some new or
forgotten songs that were never recorded, cover some of my favorite artists songs, and a few
blues numbers. with mostly acoustic instruments, as live as possible. i tracked about 20 songs
over 2 sessions with 2 different sets of my favorite musicians. simple, old school . the songs on
this set were all done in one session last year, then revisited a few months later to overdub a few
instruments to flesh em out a bit more.”

Old News Borrowed Blues, Vol. 1 - such a good listen!
I have been a fan of Vic Della Pello's work for the past 3 years, from Broken Heart Tattoo to even his earlier work.
I was eager to give this new release a listen and it did not disappoint. Right from the start there was a feeling of a "live" band and a certain "looseness" filled with a ton of feel. One of my favorite things about Vic's music is the feel. No over playing for the sake of playing but rather playing what is appropriate. Always about the song, not about Vic. The musicianship on the CD is great, everyone finds their pocket and groove and contributes. Vic's tasteful guitar playing shines and I especially love the fact that it is all acoustic; a certain sense of warmth in that approach. As usual Vic's vocals are filled with great phrasing and emotion and suit the songs well. This is a bit of a departure from Vic's previous release where all the material were originals. I really enjoy the fact he included covers here and his interpretations are awesome. My personal favorite from the selection of covers is Sweet Thing; so well done. The CD contains 3 of Vic's originals and they do not disappoint. My favorite here is This Damn Heart, typical Vic; catchy, good lyrics, and very cool guitar parts. Great song!
The quality of the recording is outstanding. Overall, this is another winner. Great job!
