Album Notes
March 30, 2016- RELEASE OF A CAPPELLA BABY-- “My latest endeavor, "A Cappella Baby", takes the listener on a journey through my childhood. Born in Toronto, Canada, growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, then ending up in Texas, my youth was filled with music from around the world. I wanted to capture all of the lullabies, kids learning songs, and poems I so regularly recited to my two sons when they were babies. I hope they will play this for their kids and grandchildren one day.”

Vicki Levy’s powerful vocal ability enables her to sing a wide range of contemporary and Broadway songs. In New York City, Vicki trained with accredited pianist/songwriter, Rob LaRocco. He considers her voice to be “as strong as an ox…with a vocal ability similar to Linda Eder.”

During her school and college years in Texas, she played the role of narrator in a regional production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Other stage credits include Martha in Scrooge, a rendition of A Christmas Carol at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre in Dallas, a leading cast member and vocalist in Come Into the Light at the Dallas Children’s Theater, and a principal role in an original program for the Jewish Federation of Dallas. Vicki continuously participated in show choirs and pop groups such as the University of Texas Longhorn Singers.

After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Vicki made the move to New York City to pursue her career. Her credits include winning the Texas Music Teachers Association, National Association of Teachers of Singing, and Music Teachers’ National Association singing competitions. In 2001, Vicki recorded for the children’s music album Oo-pples and Boo-noo-noos CD, Second Edition.

Vicki's New York debut show, MEN ran at Don't Tell Mama Cabaret and Piano Bar in April, May, July, and August of 2003. Other New York City credits include singing at Joe's Pub with vocalist Brad Linard in November 2003, and performing the National Anthem at local sporting events.

In March of 2004, she recorded the demo for the Broadway hopeful Vaya Con Dios, Las Vegas, with musical direction and engineering by Daniel A. Weiss. Weiss' credits include his many years of work on the Broadway shows Rent and Taboo. In April 2004, Vicki sang and was interviewed on the WB11 New York Morning News. She sang for the South African Chamber of Commerce (SACCA) meeting in New York City on April 21, 2004.

Vicki's one woman show The Trouble with Love, ran at The Triad Theater NYC in May of 2004. Her band included musical director, composer, and pianist Rob LaRocco, Joe Quigley on bass, Greg Landes on drums, and Mike Wengler on guitar. Outstanding reviews of Vicki's rendition of the traditional African wedding song, The Click Song from The Trouble with Love, has encouraged her to continue to explore her South African heritage through music. She went on to perform at an event honoring the South African ambassador to the United States, Barbara Masekela.

Vicki also performed at the Murray Hill Neighborhood Association’s annual Murray Hill Block Party in June 2004. Vicki was chosen to attend The Cabaret Conference at Yale University as part of the Class of 2004. She worked with and learning from such world-renowned performers and industry legends as Julie Wilson, Carol Hall, Sally Mayes, Erve Raible, and Laurel Masse.

In September 2004, Vicki performed in a Music and Comedy Showcase presented by the Award Winning Producers from Talent In Motion Magazine: Let's Get Serious Productions. Vicki performed with Anything For Loaf - a Tribute to Meat Loaf. They played shows at Rare – NYC, Crash Mansion, and at Chelsea Piers for the Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour.
