ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The second CD by Vicki Logan is getting quite a lot of attention these days. An album of mostly original instrumentals, this CD is one that Vicki writes "I'm finding my way on my musical journey. I'm not trying to invent some extraordinary new technique and I'm not trying to compete with the major labels, but I am doing something I love and wish to share it with whomever would like to listen. I hope to inspire other people to chase their dreams and to realize that they have a place here...one that does make a difference, no matter how small it may seem. The right pebble could start a rock slide!"

"Finding My Way" features piano driven instrumentals using elements of several genres including rock, pop, classical and even folk. She has also incorporated the instruments of flute, cello, violin, flugelhorn, guitars and more into her compositions to creat even more variety. Vicki has arranged Enya's "Only Time" and Ethridge's "All the Way to Heaven" as a way to introduce her arranging styles. She chose these artists as they have helped to influence her path within the music industry. "They are strong women who have forged the way for many women after them. They had obstacles to over come and did."

Logan's other CDs, "Chasing Dreams", "The Ride" and "The Journey To the Places In My Soul" are also available here at CDBaby. Check Vicki's website, http://www.vickilogan.com for real audio and MP3s of all her music in full length!

Tranquil moments ensue upon listening to this CD!
Wow - I received a personal email from the artist! This CD is beautifully relaxing. For being a mostly "untrained" musician, Vicki's music is well put together and flows nicely. This CD is a very good listen for those who want relaxing music or background music.

Soothing and heartfelt
“Finding My Way” is a humble but very impressive collection of mostly original pieces by composer/keyboardist Vicki Logan. Most of the pieces are simple, but the heartfelt emotions and sincerity make this a very satisfying and enjoyable musical experience. Drawn to music from an early age, the opportunity for music lessons didn’t present itself, so Logan is primarily self-taught, making her compositions even more impressive.

The album opens with “Dreams of the Past,” a gentle piece with a simple melody that Logan embellishes with a variety of synth instruments and voices, bringing out the melancholy but hopeful mood of the piece - an excellent beginning! “Pegasus” is much more buoyant with an infectious rhythm and the feeling of “flying” down the beach on wonderful horse. On this track and several others, Logan is joined with other musicians rather than synth orchestration, and the fun of collaborating with other players is apparent. The title track is a lovely piece about part of life’s journey - searching and learning from mistakes and looking for new things along the way. Logan is joined by Randy Gildersleeve on acoustic guitar, Andy LaCasse on bass guitar, and Peter O’Gorman on percussion - another very successful and moving piece. The two cover pieces on the album are “All the Way to Heaven” by Melissa Ethridge and “Only Time” by Enya. For me, these are the weakest tracks. They’re nicely done, but Logan’s original pieces come across much stronger. “Enchanted Winds” is a romantic piece with a beautiful flute part by Linda Wadsworth and some nice guitar work by Randy Gildersleeve. Dreamy and flowing, this is my favorite track.

Vicki Logan is a relatively new artist to keep your eyes and ears on. She says she is not trying to compete with major artists or to break new musical ground, but she may end up doing both in the course of “finding her way.” Good stuff!

Charting Your Own Course
Vicki Logan has a history of composing and producing outstanding New Age music from the very beginning of her music career. Her second album titled Finding My Way on her Carvic label achieved a top 100 album rating, airing on over 700 online radio stations worldwide. The song Enchanted Winds did arrive at a top # 1 song in AOL Radio for an astounding 21 weeks, reaching the final destination in ratings. By incorporating elements of New Age, Classical, Pop, Jazz, Contemporary Instrumental, plus a divine gift of creativity, Finding My Way, along with her entire discography does set a high standard for her future projects. Finding My Way is the title Vicki chose for this album since it describes a representation or timeline of where Vicki felt she was in relation to her music career. With that said, her timeless New Age classics have found their way to many people’s hearts and minds with the winning combination of solo performances of piano, flute, saxophone, and guitar along side synthesized representations. The song Pegasus reveals the exhilarating flight of a mythological horse free, unbridled, and floating weightless during the ride of a lifetime of chasing dreams, gently leaving a trail of puffy white clouds in it’s wake. The bass percussion sprints ahead in tempo while piano melody vigorously runs through the scales in an inspirational message about undaunted courage. When Xylophone makes an impromptu entrance into the scene, it becomes pretty clear by the lively solo response that this winged horse desires freedom most, having made all the right moves to evade capture by any mere mortal. My Mother’s Memories is a symbolic song tribute one can easily compare to a mother’s loving embrace. This hymn of love is shown through a classic piano movement complete with angelic choir vocals that emphasize the content of her character and humanity, clearly stated by the pronounced reverent atmosphere. The emotional tale of a mother’s lifetime of memories is passionately recalled from one family generation to the next by a heart felt piano narration, where her praiseworthy commitment of giving becomes apparent while recalling the eventful past. Then, almost as if waiting in respectful attention for the proper moment to arrive, something truly amazing happens.
In a heart felt solo performance, an all encompassing trumpet respectfully announces Mother’s grand entrance onto the world stage in a proud anthem, as if honoring all deserving Mothers with a standing ovation of praise. While all rise to the occasion during this profound moment of tribute and recognition, the choir validates through their own voice the unconditional love and support all caring Mothers around the world have given during their lifetime.

Great for kicking back and relaxing
The review by Kathy Parsons pretty well sums up my feelings about this CD in that I also find Vicki's own compositions to be her strongest and best tracks. Pegasus and Finding My Way are certainly as good as anybody else in the genre, with Enchanted Winds right up there. I'm glad I went to the trouble of tracking this CD down and purchasing it.
