Album Notes
In the two years since her fantastic self-titled release, Emerson has made a shift from traditional country sound one with the grit and passion of Americana artists such as Lucinda Williams. The resulting album, “Long Ride”, is the best work of her career.
In Tune Revies, Philly News

“Emerson’s silky smooth voice serenades you from beginning to end, walking you through scenes of her life like pages in a book. The quality of the vocals alone make “Long Ride” worth the listen.
Paul Bowman, The Wedge

"...Wisconsin native Vicky Emerson’s authenticity, her honeysuckle voice and her unerring sense of melody make the exquisite “Long Ride” anything but ordinary. " Tom Weber, ROCHESTER POST-BULLETIN

Vicky has been touring as an independent artist for the past five years and has arrived, safe and sound, with an incredible collection of songs in an album appropriately titled, “Long Ride.” The album was produced and engineered by Matt Patrick (Greycoats, Elizabeth Hunnicutt) on the first week of June 2009 at Patrick’s Minneapolis studio, The Library, in a live setting with the help of Minneapolis based musicians. The band included the talents of Steve Goold (drums), Aaron Fabbrini (bass), Tyler Burkum (Mat Kearney) on guitar and also Matt Patrick (multi-instrumentalist), who played a myriad of instruments and provided background vocals. “On my first visit to The Library, I knew immediately this studio was the place to create this record. The volumes upon volumes of books, the grand piano and the genius of Matt’s creative spirit and nurturing personality convinced me he could help me realize my vision for this project.” Sharing similar musical influences and creative process, Patrick and Emerson developed an instant kinship. Matt Patrick agreed saying, “I had the distinct pleasure of working with Vicky on her Long Ride album. She possesses all the elements it takes to create a beautiful recording; great skills in the art of song crafting, a competent knowledge of music, a great work ethic, the appreciation and understanding of music as an art-form, she is a skilled player of piano, guitar and voice and in my experience, the most important factor in the artist/producer relationship, Vicky Emerson is a really likeable person. Long Ride will go down in my memory as one of my all-time-favorite album productions.”

Listening to this CD over the holidays was such a wonderful experience. I played it for my family while we were opening presents in front of the fire and it really lit up the mood. I would recommend this to anyone.

Fantastic CD and Artist
Vicky's music is amazing and combines great vocals with a talented band. When you think she can't top her prior CD's, she comes out with CD like Long Ride and touches your heart.

Long Ride
This is a great CD! Long Ride is stuck in my head all the time... not kidding. Every song on the this CD is great and very soul soothing. Vicky is a wonderful and talented artist, I highly recommend this CD.

I own all of Vicky's cds and I've liked each of them, but for me, Long Ride is her best album yet! Her creativity shows with the strong lyrics she's written for each song, putting them together so you hear a complete story. Vicky's voice is stunning. I really like how she uses her voice to emphasize certain words so you can hear the emotion of a song and what she wants to say. It's very powerful. I also liked that each song easily led to the next and that made it seem like these songs were definitely meant to be together on her album. I would highly recommend this cd if you want to hear some outstanding music with a great sound. I find myself singing along with every song and I have to "tone it down" so I can hear Vicky's voice! Love this album!!!

I could listen to this album over and over and never tire of it. Vicky can take me on her "Long Ride" any time.

Long Ride is a marvelous collection of cohesive tunes from a very gifted artist. Each song tells a story that allows the listener to catch a little glimpse of Vicky's soul. I really enjoyed her previous albums, but this one really raises the bar.

It seems Vicky just keeps getting better.
With this album she switches to guitar as her main instrument which she plays as well as her well known piano. Coupled with her amazing voice and her ability to write songs you cannot get out of your head this is music you really must have in your collection. If you ever get the chance to see her live, go to hear the stories behind her songs. You will not be disappointed.
