ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Whether he's playing his trademark soulful progressive Blues with The Vinny Roth Band, or doing session work around his adopted Washington D.C. area Vinny always brings his A+ game. Through his ecclectic array of musicianship he has garnered spots playing along side such musical luminaries as Ian Gilian of Deep Purple, Honky tonk pioneer Bill Kirchen and many many others. Mr. Roth's sound and style has held comparisons to players like Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Nolan (James Brown's band), BB.King and even Wes Montgomery.
Originally from Queens NY. Vinny was attracted to the guitar starting with weekly guitar lessons beginning at age 9. It was the Riff to Walk this way by Aerosmith and old Elvis movies that lit the Rock and Roll fire. It was during his high school years that Vinny started listening to Blues artist like Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddie King. He also began listening to Jam band like The Allman Brothers, The Dead and The Band as well as James Brown and Jimi Hendrix. These were the bands that helped shape his love and style for improvising.

After high school he attained a fine arts degree in music after studying at both Northern VA Community College and George Mason University. His dedication to playing paid off with the several movie and tv soundtracks he has played on as well as a finalistists in guitar contests, most notably the 2004 Guitar Center Guitarmegeddon solo off.

On his current Cd, due for release in the fall of 2017 Vinny tries to hit every color of the music sprectrum while keeping his ideas fresh. "I think a good album should feature music that flows from inside and showcases the influences you have. I'm am a big fan of 60's and 70's live music, especially the live jam approaches of the Band of Gypsies, The Allmans, The Dead, Muddy Waters"

Vinny's music has not only won several songwriting awards but also garnered write ups in Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, 20th Century Guitar as well European press in the German Publication Guitar & Bass magazine. Several notable guests Ike Willis (Frank Zappa), Ron Halloway (Warren Haynes), Al Williams (Stanely Clarke Schooldays band), Tamer Eid (Emmett Swimming) and session players Vinnie Simonette, Kenny Pimental, Chris Wing, Eric Weinberg, Ben Tufts and the great James "Spunk" Martini all appear on the upcoming CD project.

"The best thing to do is have a big set of ears, an open mind and enjoy and be greatful that you can create what you love"

Soulful!!!
Every once in a while an artist arrives that delivers rich, multi-dimensional, and soulful music. Vinny's last album was smashing and I have waited with great anticipation for his follow up release. It was well worth the wait as he delivers on every song taking the listener on a fantastic musical journey. He weaves diverse musical ideas in a soulful way through the entire album that blends and connects each song to one another. The listener can hear Vinny play with his heart and soul leaving a lasting impact and wanting more.

Blues? Rock? Jazz? Who cares. It's great!
The legendary Northern Virginia Strat-slinger returns! Whether he's playing sweet acoustic slide on the title track or laying down jazz-inflected leads on the smoking and funky"Sweaty Machete," Roth shows remarkable breath and depth in his playing. His style shows his funk, jazz and blues influences, but his style is always tasty and catchy, never too out there and always in service to the groove. Speaking of which, "Groove Messiah" is an infectious piece of good time party music that got my toes tripping, with a smoking solo at the close. Finally, Roth takes the microphone for himself on what I think is the best track, "Should Have Left That Girl Alone" and shows he's got vocal chops as well as being a great guitar player. Highly recommended!

Vinny rocks!!
Vinny Roth’s new CD “Red Wine Sunshine and Loud Guitars” absolutely rocks with a blues and slightly country feel, and his unexpected cover of Jimi Hendrix’s Crosstown Traffic is soulful and moving. No doubt about it, Vinny is a Strat man through and through, and he absolutely captures the Fender sound here. Syncopated unison lines between the guitar, bass, and various other instruments are peppered throughout the album and shows off the high caliber of musicianship in his band. I had a chance to jam with Vinny at the NAMM show and he is every bit the live player as he displays on his new studio album. All in all this is a very fresh and rewarding collection of songs to listen to.
