Album Notes
Virago is an original, high-energy duet consisting of musicians/composers Amy Schindler and Maire Tashjian. Their sound is ROCK with an ethnic twist. Amy calls an audience to attention with riveting vocals and bold acoustic guitar riffs. The songs come alive with an ethnic flavor as Maire plays a variety of percussion instruments, including a surdo (Brazilian bass drum), congas and a full drum set. A number of songs contain vocal harmonies and some are solely instrumental arrangements. Virago has a passion for Brazilian music which has inspired them to perform songs in Portuguese. They have performed internationally, including Salvador,Bahia,Brazil. Virago's original compositions are based upon the human experience, inspiring their listeners with lyrics of hope, spirit, faith and love.
Some of their music offers soft beautiful melodies. Others call the audience to attention with Amy's riveting vocals and bold guitar riffs, while Maire hammers out a rocking beat.

"Schindler wails on the guitar and sings in the howling-growling Janis Joplin-Melissa Etheridge tradition."
