ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Country Music allowed me to express, in the best way I know, a kind of lingering
love affair I’ve always had with the Old South; to tell verse stories of its inhabitants:
the drifters, the forlorn and deserted in love, the down and outs, the prisoners and
criminals, the broken-hearted and the cheaters. To be able to do this I have to become someone else.
That someone else is my alter ego Virg. Without him these songs would never have seen the light of day.

Here is a Music Video featuring Track Nine - The Last Time (that he saw Marie)

A review
I have just listened to this staggering recording...
Virg scraps the barrel of his very soul to dredge up some incredibly emotive lyrics ...he tears your heart from it's cage and wrings it out like a wet tea cloth until there's nothing left of you except a tiny drop of self respect and a respect for Virg's writing.
Classic country at it's most dangerous place...simple and direct.. with stunning harmonies...one can't understand why Virg and his story telling hasn't made him famous across the south...mabe it's just a matter of time....Perhaps he hasn't really 'become someone else' ....he has just become himself..? Ashes and Diamonds is a 'classic ' in waiting.
