Album Notes
Performing live in Carnegie Hall N.Y. on the 22. June 2014 after invitation from DCINY, VIVA, Sandnes kulturskolekor has proven it's high standards and quality as a youth choir of high international standards. The choir's interpretations of these classical songs on this album demonstrated this. The choir was founded in 1968 in Sandnes, a city in the southwestern Norway, neighbor to the "oil capital" Stavanger. The choir has set themselves high quality standards up through the decades, constantly improving. This is a remarkalble achievement, as the member's age range from 13 to 19 years of age. Members have six years to develop these skills, at the same time the elder singers teach the younger. In singing, in forming and maintaining a group: The Choir!
In learning to care about each other, and others: Many of the choir members are supporting a children's home in South Africa since VIVA toured the Drakensberg's area in Easter 2011, and they have decided that 10% of the net income of their concerts shall be sent to the SA children in that home.
The members refer to what Pablo Pascals once wrote:
"Each second we live is a new and special moment,
a never returning moment.
We should tell every child:
"Do you know what you are?
You are a miracle!
You are wonderful!
In the whole wide world there is no-one like you!"
These facts they bring on to others...
