Album Notes
Pete Vogel has been playing, performing, composing and perfecting his musical crafts for over twenty-five years.

His career started in 1983 as the drummer for Geffen-Recording Artist The Toll. Since then, he's performed with over a dozen bands, played solo piano and has worked with other well-known Ohio artists such as John Bolzenius (from Throat Culture), Quinn Fallon (from X-Rated Cowboys), Kevin Brotherton (from Brotherton), Mark Cantwil (from Jameson Rain) and solo artist Brian Granger.

"Rites of Passion" is the culmination of fourteen years of effort. Recorded in three separate home studios, "Rites" embodies the breadth of style and composition that Vogel has nurtured since his early playing days. "Rites" is a heartfelt, honest work -- with compositions that invoke passion, emotion and most of all, hope.

Vogel used the vocal talents of John Bolzenius, Mark Cantwil and Kevin Brotherton to showcase his instrumental talents. Critics have been supportive of his efforts, commenting that "Rites" has "magical sensitivity and warmth" is "a nice presentation of music" and has the potential for crossing over into the film/soundtrack genres.

Desperately Seeking Lake and Palmer
Are you sadly missing the Alan Parson's Project and not afraid to admit it? Then you, my friend, have come to the right place. Pete Vogel's music has all the prog-rock over-production and otherworldly sincerity that's been missing from music since the advent of grunge. And if that sounds like a slam to you, you're missing the point.

Positive, Lively, and Moving
Vogel’s compositions here feature structurally sound melodies that are uniformly likeable and, to the appreciative listener, truly touching. Vogel is brilliant, delivering some lovely, thoughtful results while consciously avoiding schmaltz. If pretty, well-conceived music is your passion, this is an album worthy of your attention.

Peaceful and Relaxing
A wonderful collection of peaceful music. Mr. Vogel puts such soul into his compositions. My favorite is Mystic, but since no sound clip is featured here, you'll just have to order the CD!
