Album Notes
Volcano Calculator was born out of the ashes of Crushing Complex when guitarist Sean Luciw realized it was time to do things his way. "Heavy metal rhythm guitar will always ignite my heart and soul, and odd time signatures provide infinitely ripe territory for mental exploration. This band is the resulting combination." The power trio format is powerfully pure and simple, featuring Kyle Lucas on bass and Nick Pattie on drums. The recorded style is tight but understated, to reflect the true sound of the band's live performance. Heavy metal sometimes has a lack of bass guitar in the recorded sound, but this is not the case with Volcano Calculator... in yo face! Here you will find no guitar solos, no whammy bars, and no fake overdubbing of extra vocal layers or artsy-fartsy keyboards... just the real deal. This is metal with a punk rock attitude. You could say the lyrics are somewhat pissed off! For extra low-down heavy sound, Volcano Calculator uses 8-string guitar and 6-string bass, reaching almost an octave lower than normal. Brutal!
