The works of Mr. Kulenovic have been performed to critical acclaim in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia, among others. His oeuvre includes seven symphonies, sixteen instrumental concerti, an Oratorio, a ballet, twelve film scores, over 30 works for chamber orchestra and numerous chamber and solo works. Mr. Kulenovic was chosen to write the opening cantata for the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, the city in which he was born. He has received awards from the International Contemporary Music Bienalle in Venice, Radio France, BEMUS Festival, the Fulbright Foundation, and the Preshern award for lifetime achievement.

Electric Symphony:

Commissioned by the Berklee College of Music, ELECTRIC SYMPHONY is a compendium of the variety of divergent genres that informs the uniqueness of that Institution. Over one hour in duration, the work is composed for thirty amplified musicians and vocalist; the instrumentation is an eclectic mix of the traditional (symphonic) and “contemporary”, ranging from ‘celli to electric guitars and basses, french horns to saxophones. The enormous percussion compliment (5 players) and synthesizers, provide an ever changing, seamless tapestry of color, highlighting strands of improvisatory fantasy; the voice, reaches from our most primal selves to intimations of starlight. It is a work of extraordinary musical range and poetic intent; it is a 21st Century Rite of Spring.
