Album Notes
WALIN Goodbye
Orange County singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and mad scientist Matt Walin has released a musical masterpiece. Goodbye was years in the making and it shows: Firecracker is an undeniable hit, with a sweet soaring vocal melody and heartfelt lyrics that take an endearing look at the angst of unrequited lustful love. The guitar solo echoes the melody and brings the song to new heights. Perfectly crafted. Mary Weeps Again will suck you in with a sinfully delicious groove and truly whacked chords, before luring you into a unique pre-chorus that aches with anticipation before Walin delivers the punch. There is some insanely great guitar work on the album, and on this song in particular, with a myriad of new sounds and experimental effects, each resonating with purpose and personality. All Too Well is another fav, full of irony, accentuated by a haunting high-pitched melodic outro. Pop-rock gems like She Belongs and Hey Angel are instantly sing-able radio songs, but if you want to be slapped in the face with something fresh and delicious, delve into Mary Weeps Again, I’m Bored Of All Of You, What The Hell Am I Doing Here, and Stranger. The whole album is beautifully adorned in nothing but the necessary, making each song glow with truth. Walin crafts songs like perfectly polished little diamonds that will outshine the bling-bling of overproduced counterfeits. Let’s hope Goodbye is just the beginning.
